Following a decade-long battle with cancer, David Cook's brother, Adam, died yesterday.
The American Idol winner made the difficult announced this morning, prior to the Race for Hope 5K in Washington, D.C.
"I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now," Cook told the crowd at the brain cancer research benefit, at which Cook served as the grand marshal and competitor, as his team had raised more than $40,000.
Adam Cook had battled the disease throughout Cook's American Idol run last year.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to David and his family.

In the middle of all this 'stuff'...I wish you and your family only the most heartfelt condolences. There is nothing so heartbreaking as losing someone who loves so unconditionally that the space cannot be filled by anything nor anyone. Time is the only healer, the loving Spirit that has gone will help you though this hardest time of all. God Bless you and all the family.

when i heard about the news the first thing that came to my mind is hows their family now???
and when i read david's blogf at myspace i cant help but tears fell in my eyes, his heart warming message touch my heart... im sorry for your loss david my deepst sympathy to you and your family, i will always pray for you and your family
