Kris Allen, Adam Lambert Dominate Disco Night
This just in:
Adam Lambert did not put on our favorite American Idol performance this week. For the first time all season, another finalist showed creative range equal with the eventual, surefire champion.
While Lambert was his typically creative, talented self - the singer performed "If I Can’t Have You," slowing it down as a ballad emitting perfect pitch and emotion - Kris Allen also struck an original chord.
He sang Donna Summer’s “She Works Hard for the Money,” also taking it slow, armed with an acoustic guitar a Tracy Chapman-like sound. Kara DioGuardi echoed our thoughts when she told Kris: “You took a real risk... and it paid off big time.”
Our other two top performances from the night were:
- Allison Iraheta, who chose the Donna Summer song, “Hot Stuff," changed up the arrangement and, once again, belted out a classic like a veteran star, as opposed to the 16-year old she is.
- Danny Gokey did his usual (impressive) thing with a sultry version on Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.” Kara called him “an incredible vocalist.

Charlotte, you only THINK Adam thinks he's got it won. If he did then he'd get lazy about it and not perform well. All of them are working hard to get the title and NOONE thinks they already have it in the bag.

Kris was awful. Just because he is considered awful when some people thought he did good they think iwas great? That's because it's a big surprise. lol

I definitely think Kris hit it out of the park and that Danny perfomred very well. Adam is a bit over the top for me and I agree with Charlotte "he always screams some part of his song" and "he thinks he has it won".

I thought Kris and Danny were the best last night. Adam who is somewhat arrogant always screams some part of his song which turns me off....he thinks he has it won.

Kris surprised me too, but i agree with Robert Weston, it's kinda boring and his vocal range is very limited, and doesn't have too much stage prescense.
On the other hand, Adam makes it strong even with such a slow ballad. He made it really interesting, and it swept me off my feet. Great performance, really intense..

I liked Kris and his performance. Of all the contestants Kris surprised me the most. Disco is hard week and Kris did an excellent job for someone who is not seen as a Disco music fan.

I found Kris Allen's performance quite boring frankly. I know he probably appeals to the Sanjaya set. The young preteens. I could not imagine listening to an entire CD of his. His vocal range is very limited and his performance ability is lacking.
