Carrie Prejean Hearts Marriage, Fame

by at . Comments

Carrie Prejean loves fame almost as much as she hates gay people.

On the Today show this morning, Miss California announced that she'll milk every second and every penny that she could from the attention she's receiving work with the National Organization for Marriage on a campaign opposing gay marriage.

"I am just here to protect marriage," said Prejean. "The National Organization for Marriage basically just respects marriages and people who support it. I am here to protect traditional marriage."

Regarding the outrage that followed her response to Perez Hilton's question during the Miss USA pageant, Prejean said:

"I never thought in a million years that this would be happening right now. I was attacked for giving my own opinion on stage. I am going to do whatever it takes to protect marriage."

Sounding like a complete and utter moron, reading a nonsensical Hallmark card, Carrie continued to say that marriage "is something that is very dear to my heart, and I am just here to protect it. That's all I am here to do."

Come on now. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. But what does that even mean? Marriage is close to her heart?!? If that's the case, perhaps Prejean should campaign against the nuptials of heterosexual couples, considering nearly 50% of them end in divorce.

Moreover, Prejean's statements cause us to wonder...

  • Why does gay marriage anger Catholics to such a degree, yet few comment on a story such as Mel Gibson's divorce? Does the Bible not say: “So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate” (Matthew 19:6) and “I hate divorce, says the Lord God of Israel" (Malachi 2:16a)?
  • Carrie talks continually of "protecting marriage." Can someone explain how a gay couple exchanging vows threatens the union of a heterosexual couple? Must one straight marriage be dissolved in order for a gay marriage to take place?
  • If Prejean had not been asked her stance on gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant, would she still embark on a campaign against it? In other words: is this truly an issue close to her heart, or just an opportunity to extend her 15 minutes of fame for as long as possible?

I find it so funny that so many of the celebrities have been so righteous these days to jump on the band wagon to support homosexuality. I just find it amusing how todays society has been so accepting of gay marriage. I have no problem with a woman loving another woman or a man loving a man they will meet their maker one day. But I still hold a strong faith that we were told to go forth and multiply our lord meant man and woman. I am glad that this young lady is not afraid to speak her mind on this issue. Too many people are afraid to voice there opinion anymore because then you get all these gay and lesbian groups screaming their constitutional rights are being violated and in todays world no one wants to go there and challenge it. What ever happened to keeping it in the closet. It does not matter to me if it is her 15 minutes of fame at least she is speaking what is on the minds of others.

Carrie Prejean Quotes

I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be between a man and a woman.

Marriage is good. There is something special about unions of husband and wife. Unless we bring men and women together, children will not have mothers and fathers.
