The Hollywood Gossip staff members do not fashion themselves celebrity fashion and makeup experts. Our business is celebrity gossip, not mascara.
However, we suspect that, just maybe, "Light up Your Eyes" may not have been the best tagline for a new Cover Girl ad starring pop star Rihanna.
Rihanna was, of course, beaten up so hard by Chris Brown that her eyes were partially swollen shut. We're just saying. Oh, "allegedly" beaten, sorry.
While we await word on whether Rihanna will testify against Chris Brown, at least we know where we can go for makeup to disguise deep facial bruising.
Follow the jump for another ad Cover Girl has released with a more generic headline - possibly having realized the unintended double entendre above ...
TAKE OFF THAT MASK: Not much the celebrity news headline writers at The Hollywood Gossip can do to turn that one around on Cover Girl. Nice work.

I think it is pretty ironic, but strangely appropriate that Rihanna is the new face of Cover Girl Cosmetics! I mean, who better to endorse a MAKE UP COMPANY than a woman who can say, "This make up is so good, it covers all my bruises and bite marks!! God Bless Cover Girl for their good taste and excellent judgment!

I think that Rihanna should remain the spokesperson for Covergirl. Domestic violence survivors need make-up to cover the bruises. If Covergirl make-up can hide bruises then why not keep Rihanna. Covergirl is a great product if it can hide all the bruises that Rihanna may obtain from her Chris Brown beatings as well as for any cosmetic touch-ups for her funeral if it comes to that. Remember Rihanna is the victim and experienced head trauma during her beating. She will eventually see the light sooner or later. Parents have to remember that a lot of actors, actresses, athletes, etc. have done drugs, driven under the influence, and had domestic altercations. However, the same parents that are complaining about role models and influential people watch these actors tv shows, movies, and attend musical concerts. No one should be judging anyone. Look at Michael Vick he was chosen to be sent to jail for dogfighting and animal abuse and people have been abusing animals for years. People are to judgemental and need to worry about more important things such as hungry and homeless people in the United States and not outside the country.

All of you ppl need to give them a break, not to sound biblical...but as the saying goes "let him w/o sin cast the 1st stone"....everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance, if it was one of your crazy rebellious teens you'd want the same...of course its not okay to hit a woman ever....he's acknowledged he has a problem and he's obviously seeking the help he needs to overcome his issue(s) all of you guys that are bashing chris brown and rihanna are sickening...and I bet these aren't even fans leaving these ridiculous comments... but a bunch of grumpy old parents who probably never even heard of him until now, get a life and let them live theirs.

I have a 19 year old daughter to worry about.
With Rihanna getting back with Chris and she is still advertising for your company. Come on! What kind of message is everyone sending? I will no longer buy your products till I hear she will no longer be advertising for your company.

Sure - the ad is great if you add a black eye and some bruises and make it an ad for "Abused Women" who need to break the cycle of violence instead of Condoning It! Wake up Rihanna! The guy is a loser and you are an setting an example to all of young America. Is this the example you want to set?!

She's not the one who's image has been tarnished!! Chris Brown's is!! They could have maybe waited a few weeks before releasing it but i think it would be good for her, she needs to get her normal life back and not be holed up in a hotel or where ever she is.
^^^^Seriously, how stupid are you if you think HER image is tarnished?!^^^^
