Yesterday's report in Star magazine turned out to be correct. Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have called off their engagement, Johnston confirmed to the AP.
Johnston, 19, said the couple decided to split a while ago.
He did not offer more details.
Bristol Palin - the 18-year-old daughter of Alaska governor (and former Republican vice presidential nominee) Sarah Palin - and Johnston welcomed their son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, on December 27. The couple planned to wed this year.
Admitting that getting knocked up as a teen wasn't ideal, she told Fox News last month that "I hope people learn from my story. It's so much easier if you're married, have a house and career. It's not a situation you want to strive for."
In the same interview, Bristol Palin - currently a student at Wasilla High School - touted Levi Johnston as a "hands-on dad." Yesterday, though, when rumors of their split surfaced, she supposedly described him as "white trash."
Speaking of W.T., his mom, Sherry Johnston, was arrested in December and charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance. She was allegedly caught dealing OxyContin, a.k.a. hillbilly heroin.
