American Idol Update: Finalists, Wild Card Contestants Announced
Last night's American Idol results show was full of more action that Paris Hilton's hotel room on Saturday nights.
First, Ryan Seacrest announced the three singers that were voted by fans into the finals. None were a surprise:
- Lil Rounds
- Scott MacIntyre
- Jorge Nuñez
Click on the pics above to say hello to the latest trio of American Idol finalists.
From there, the host explained this season's Wild Card round: the judges agreed on eight singers that deserved a second chance to audition. From that group - which will perform tonight - the final trio of finalists will be selected by viewers.
Here's who will receive another shot at the next round:
- Von Smith
- Anoop Desai (Click on pic below to enlarge)
- Jesse Langseth
- Jasmine Murray (Click on pic below to enlarge)
- Matt Giraud (Click on pic below to enlarge)
- Ricky Braddy
- Megan Joy Corkrey
- Tatiana del Toro
Our take: del Toro? Really?!? Is there any reason for her to be included in the Wild Card selections, aside from producers wanting to create more drama?
The Bachelor has been taken to task all week for its controversial, possibly-staged finale. But it's about time someone called out American Idol for clearly aiming to elicit more tears and pleadings from Tatiana in order to boost ratings.

The more I watch the judges the more I realize how immature and how they use people to make this show work. First of all they should not have let Tatiana back onto the wildcard group. This young woman is a bit unbalanced and giving her a spot that so many others deserved is not only a disservice to her but an insult to those who didn't make it and should have. This has really put Idol on a cheesy side-show level. Get with it American Idol or you are going to end up with nothing but Tatinana del Toros next season because they know they can get some attention....

American Idol seems to be moving into the realm of rigged reality shows with no originality.
What happened to finding the natural talent based on America's votes? Choosing Tatiana for the wild card round is pathetic.

just how does del toro boost rating? I am so annoyed I want to give up on idol -- and we are original, gargantuan fans. What a joke including her is! It's excrutiating to watch her and it's sad that a real talent gets left out because producers, judges, whoever decided to include her just for kicks and ratings. despicable and we expected more. and it's a kick in the face to those finalists who are actually talented and deserve to be there. The focus is taken away from them -- who really deserve it -- and a their talent is minimized.

They did this so that they could increase the chances of having the person they wanted to be chosen. They know that there is no chance that tard will get voted in.
