Out of all the goofy faces in the world, why did almost everyone, except the asian guy, do the asian slanted eye thing? That's what I'm concerned about. How can she say that she isn't making fun of asians. If everyone came up with their own goofy faces, then I can understand. She needs to come up with a better excuse, or rather, the truth.

MILEY CIRUS SHOWS GOOFY FACE IS NOT A BIG ISSUE.FIRST OF ALL WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HOW A PERSON CAN KNOW SHOWING GOOFFY FACES IN ASIA WILL OFFEND ASIAN.THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE AROUND MAKE GOOFY FACES NOTHING HAPPENS.I THINK WE SHOULD ACCEPT HER APOLOGY.MILEY CYRUS IS NOT ASIAN TO KNOW MAKING GOOFY FACES WILL OFFEND HER FANS.SHE IS AMERICAN FROM A DIFFERENT REGION.ANY WAY HOW MANY PEOPLE IN ASIA KNOW MAKING GOOFY FACES IS SERIOUS MATTER.REALLY I DONT THINK SHOULD MAKE MATTER BIG.REALLY FUNNY.

God she is making a mess for herself isn't she?! Lol.
I think people should stop like examining the face she's making and concentrate on the fact that she looks totally trashed in the picture!! OK, maybe it wasn't the smartest thing to be doing but when someone takes a picture she's hardly gonna be thinking 'Omg, how could this picture offend people?'
Basically people need to LET IT GO!

I am a huge (not size wise, though) Miley Cyrus fan, and when I saw this photo, I was sure there was another side to the story. But the thing is, people should still support her, but I do think that if you're in the spotlight THAT much, it's really unfair, but you need to think about every move you make and obsess over your image. But she shouldn't pull herself out of the spotlight at all, as she gets older, she'll realize that the cynical people of the world believe they can spot racists easily, which is sad that she wasn't even being racist, and the world assumes the worst. Maybe she shouldn't change her actions, but the world she try to change their own.
This is retarted. She's a kid, I know some of you forget that sometimes but she IS. Honestly, I see about a hundered kids doing this every week. The only reason people care is because it's Miley Cyrus. Let it go!

She never seem to learn from her lessons....she is constantly engaging in controversial issues like skimpy dressing....acting childish....
There is no excuse for being insensitive in your actions when you are being admired by so many kiddos out there...
Very RUDE! I wonder if she is going to make fun of people being fat, too skinny, or handicap next...
I bet you guys will not defend her if she is making obscene gestures to your interpretation....as a personal attack....

Seriously, it is not goofy at all. You are saying people with slanting eyes look goofy? God has created everyone in the image of Him. This is an insult to the creator.
I cannot believe my eyes, there are fans who actually say stuffs like no matter what she did, I will still be a huge fan.
Also, some people felt sorry for her....Come on, she is earning lots and lots of money from little kiddos...the least she can do is set a bloody good example.
Not all asians have slanting eyes...stereotype...but truly I have known of friends with slanting eyes....
Why even bother to defend her? If you are a hooligan in the streets, i don't care....you are setting an example for little conforming minds....
Then, probably she is not fit to be where she is.
Oh well, I guess she will be losing a lot of her so called slanting eyes fans....at least....LOL...

I feel bad on her she cant live a normal teenage life with ppl butting in and blowing things out of porportion..I wouldnt care if she killed someone tbh id still be a huge fan :)

"I was just trying to make a funny face." Then why didn't she do something like opening her eyes wide, pushing her nose with her fingers and sticking out her tongue? The kind of faces you make in front of a photo-booth with your friends. That would have been a funny face. But no, she literally took her fingers and slanted her eyes so she'd look Asian.
To say that she was "just trying to make a funny face" is to say that she consciously or subconsciously thinks Asians have a funny face. As if people of Caucasian, African, Latino, Arab and Jewish descent don't have funny faces. She was not sincere nor did she demonstrated any understanding of how her behavior can be offensive. She was defensive and contrite. Even blamed it on the media and the Asians who found it to be offensive. Apparently, it's their fault that they are offended. It's even Britney's fault for doing well, thereby causing the public to focus on poor Miley.
