"should I have brought this baby into the world and take the chance of causing the baby undue harm because of my stupidity, or was it selfish of me to terminate"

By that logic, if a woman recently gives birth and later decides she cannot take care of it/doesn't want it to have a bad life, etc. why is she not allowed to kill it? A newborn is about as sapient/sentient as a fetus in the womb. http://supervegan.com/blog/entry.php?id=436

"I am almost 28 now, but when I was 20 I was in a horrible relationship, abusive, drugs, and every other thing you can imagine."

Heck, according to your logic, you should have been aborted yourself, or at least have committed suicide by now. Didn't you just say its better to be dead than possibly have bad things happen in your life? Apparently life is better, or you wouldn't be alive right now. But I guess its easier to snuff out a tiny life than your own.

    Hurray for hypocrisy.

People are quick to say put the baby up for adoption. Well, how about the many of children who are in orphanage and are not being adopted? There would be over 200,000 babies to adopt! Most women/girls have abortion because they are afraid and young. Here are some statistics: 52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions; Teenagers obtain 20% and girls under 15 account for 1.2%. 64.4% of all abortions are performed on never-married women. Women with family incomes less than $15,000 obtain 28.7% of all abortions; Women with family incomes between $15,000 and $29,999 obtain 19.5%; Women with family incomes between $30,000 and $59,999 obtain 38.0%. 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient. 54% percent of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method. Among those women, 76% of pill users and 49% of condom users report having used their method inconsistently, while 13

Far be it for me to comment on celebrities since I tend to avoid any discussion of people I will never know. But reading this headline made my blood boil.

A wolf that is CLEARLY ALIVE, is being killed in an inhumane way. If you're culling to save another population, fine, but there are far more humane ways in which to go about it.

Comparing the inhumane killing of a living creature to the aborting of something that is DEBATABLY alive is ludicrous. The question of when an embryo is alive is still in debate, and in fact that debate is usually one based on faith rather than facts. We terminate patients when they become brain dead, because there is no chance for a normal life or one possessed of any quality. Why then do we weep over something that has no discernible brain or brain functions?

Hasselbeck is a woman who blindly follows her religious and political views without leaving room for any other point of view. No matter how many facts are present in the opposing argument. Her

What about the illegal killing of over 1,000,000 Iraqis who were fully living OUTSIDE A WOMB AND PLACENTA??!!

Is that just excusable because Bush/GOP authorized every bit of it??!

Is that a lesser figure than the number of fetuses? A number of fetuses that women, often for important reasons, CHOSE LEGALLY not to support before independent life is even likely in the last trimester?....

As the other, more worldly and mature hostesses said, THERE IS NO COMPARISON between abortion and killing a fully healthy adult mammal that has qualified for protection under the Endangered Species Act. (Hello-at 5 billion on the planet, the human species are nowhere near endangered!)

And if Elizabeth is so hog wild about forcing every other woman to bear a child at every possible time, then why doesn't she adopt some of these unwanted kids, who are often neglected, abused, and miserable??? Why doesn't she adopt one of these unwanted children, instead of cranking out more herself when there

I wish her mother woulda ripped her out with a coat hanger, so we wouldn't have to hear her b.s. Why should women be slaves to their reproductive organs????

  7. Lizzie

go away elizabeth hasselbeck! you are a crazy nutcase and nobody wants to listen to you talk anymore! go home and take care of your unborn child and teach your husband how to play football. ha.

  8. lizz

Elizabeth Hassekback has waaay too many opinions. Seriously!! Why the hell would you bring in abortion to a topic about wolves??!! Nobody is ever going to agree on abortion or hunting so why bring it up?! I think the woman sat next to Whoppie was totally right, Elizabeth Hasselback is an opinionated, nasty fame whore. Harsh but true.

  9. Shirley

I keep hoping that Elizabeth Hasselback will finally grow up and learn to keep her mouth shut. She has a vitriolic tongue and uses it prejudicially and frequently. Bad selection to represent the View and her co-hosts. She needs to go home and learn to rock her baby and see her mental health counselor.

When Hasselbeck feels attacked, she attacks. If this was any other ad about cruel animal treatment, she would not bring up abortion. If a celebrity was promoting an AIDS charity, would Liz say - if they believe in the sanctity of life, why don't they speak out against abortion? If this was genuinely what made her mad, she would bring it up any time someone spoke about an issue to do with 'life'. Even Sherri Shepherd outsmarted her and called her on the bull that it just upsets her that people bring up one issue of the sanctity of life without the other, asking why she doesn't get mad if people bring up pro-life issues without saying 'oh and save the animals!'.

What's embarrassing is Hasselbeck doesn't see how transparent she is. Someone is -rightfully - criticising the actions of her hero Sarah Palin and instead of just respecting people might see it that way, even if Hasselbeck disagrees, she has to attack and discredit. It's also quite nasty to decide someone speaking out against

It would be nice if Elizabeth would just stay on topic. I have yet to meet a person who is FOR abotion, they are just pro-choice! Give me a break, step away from your agenda and that of the Republican Party for just a moment Elizabeth. Are you really for aerial hunting of wolves? Their slow death and unnecessary suffering?

  12. Liz

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a shrill, brainless twit. And to think I liked her on 'Survivor'.
Too bad Rosie is gone to put that Republican Barbie in check.

What the hell does abortion have to do with killing wolves in the most horrific manner?
Nothing, so why write about it here. Use a different comment section for that.
You go Ashley Judd, take out that Alaskan Caribou Barbie.

you all are ate up in the head. i am not in favor of abortion, i know how the process goes, and i think it is horrible. i started out at the age of 18 as a mother, no college degree and dirt poor. i knew this would happen, and i still decided to go along with the pregnancy, abortion never once became an option. i might not have had a lot of money, but there was plenty of love to go around. but, what about the women that have been raped? do you think they have the right to abort. and before you say that adoption is the best choice in that situation, stop and think about this. having a man beat you and force himself on you and then having to carry his child for nine months. you might say that you would carry the child and give it up for adoption, and if you do, im sure your full of it. in a lot of ways, thats where prochoice comes in, giving the mother the right to choice. also, why are you guys carrying on about being against abortion and being for the shooting of these wolves. can you

I have said it a few times already. If you are so vehemently against this, then take a look in your refrigerator and in protest, take the following items out of your fridge and refuse to buy them anymore:

-All meat products, heck even the poor fish.
    -Milk, throw it out..
    -Cheese
    -Eggs!!
    -Ice cream!!

All the animals responsible for those items were treated with far less dignity than the wolves in the cull and in far greater numbers. Your steak likely wandered around a putrid feed lot full of fecal matter and possibly a few deceased, trampled in the crowd.

  15. Ydal

I think that she has a valid point. There are so many more worth while causes that could use you "donation"! Think about it the next time you see one of those dumb commercials! When we have starving shildren in our own nation! Donate to you local food bank for heaven sake!

  16. kim

I just looked at the video again of Judd caterwauling about "how the wolves are hunted down and shot and left to die in the cooolllddd snow" Geez, puke!!Do you think that it might hurt an unborn baby when "doctors"? use a saline solution to dissolve a baby and pull it out limb for limb????She literally makes me sick. What a nut job! Hey Judd, if you really want to care for something, how about human life?Give away some of your money to make a difference to children in the world,or you could adopt every little furry creature in the world and have it live in your mansion and crap everywhere, wouldn't matter, you're full of it anyway!!!

  17. kim

I have to applaud Elisabeth for taking the perfect opportunity to point out to the world what a sick twit Judd is to "care so much for animals" and not care at all for human life!!!!!!Good job Elisabeth, Don't back down , run her twisted @ss in the dirt. It is murder!!!!Plain and simple . She must of had an abortion to defend it so, probably when she was 12!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. kim

Sorry folks! Ashley Judd is a hypocrite!!!!!!!!!Let me see?? which is more important???An unborn child, or a 'self sufficient"animal who will eat your sorry ass, given half a chance while you're trying to save it from destruction?????? Get the picture yet??? Hello???She and those like her , including "whoopie cushion"!!!!!!!!Does she/he? even have kids??

  19. Megan

Elisabeth is correct in her assesment actually. Those that have had abortions try to use any excuse they can...hey heres one...if you can't take the responsibility of bringing a helpless, innocent child, into this earth....then stop having sex, and if you do get pregnant and don't want it...hello, it is called adoption, do you know how many people around this country want children but cannot have them...I have friends that have had multiple abortions in the past, but now all of a sudden want children...should they have that right..when they have thrown away so many other oppurtunities?? And all you idiots that protest animal killing but support abortion should be locked away somewhere so you can all cry to each other about this horrible world we live in...THAT IS LIFE...from the beginning of time..we have been eating animals, and hunting them for sport...last time I checked...we don't have game reserves on who can kill the most fetuses or babies(what I like to call them)...because it

  20. jo

This has everything to do with Ashley not liking Sarah Palin and nothing to do with the wolves !!! If you think Elisabeth is transparent - please ,,,,

  21. kathleen Frack

Here goes Elisabeth again! No matter what a Republician doess it is okay! Ad she, and Srah Palin need to get the facts right. The killinf if wolves have nothing to do with the caribou or moose population. There are far too many ungulates to have the 20 or so pack wolves in Alaska wipe them out. They need a prey-predator situation to keep healthy populations the herd and the land intact. Just see what happened to the ecoogical status of Yellowstone Park when wolves were re-introduced. as for rnchers, they are compensted by Defendrs of Wildlife for any loss of cattle or sheep. These IGNORANT statements are from the mid 1800's!! But the real reason behind wolf and bear slaughterin is of course MONEY! This big, rich people come to Alaska plunk down tons of mula and can kill wildlife to hang the trophy on there wall. These so-called hnuters have no respect for any wildlife and Alaska makes revenue off these hun.ting expeditions. This was going on with prvious governor before Palin, but she pa

people are missing one thing. Elisabeth supported mccain and palin. It wouldn't matter who it was doing the commercial, she would attack them to. The only thing this girl needs to do is shut up. It is not the killing of animals, it is the way they are being that is the problem.

  23. Jennifer

I understand completely why Elisabeth Hasselbeck is aggravated by Ashley Judd's PSA. If these same actors that are championing for the protection of animals would also stand up for the lives of unborn babies, it would be a different story. Yet, these actors tend to be pro-choice and would rather be in a PSA for wild life then speak for the 260,000 babies that are being aborted a year. In response to Leanne's comment, I don't understand how abortion was the most humane option for you to take. I have always considered putting the baby up for adoption to be more humane than abortion. I just wish that people cared as much about human life as they do about animal life.

It does make me wonder how many women are using abortion as birth control.

  25. leanne

I am just curious, where and how did this woman become famous. Was it because of the Survivor series. I think this woman is very passionate and committed to her beliefs, but she needs to have some sort of empathy and compassion for people in a different walk of life than her own. I am an avid animal lover, I would do anything to take care of an animal, I dont have children myself at this point in time, but my cat and dogs are treated as close to human as I can without crossing the crazy line. Her comparison of killing wolves to having an abortion is the only word that I can come up with is "crazy". I am almost 28 now, but when I was 20 I was in a horrible relationship, abusive, drugs, and every other thing you can imagine. I taked to my parents and we decided that the most humane thing for me to do was abort the pregnancy. Elizabeth talks about abortion and the women who make this life altering choice as if they are the scum of the earth. I just wonder, should I have brought th
