David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell: It's Over

As American Idol gets set to premiere its eighth season tonight - remember to take an early look at contestants now - a pair of former finalists on the show have broken up.

David Cook and Kimberly Caldwell are no longer a couple.

"Kimberly and David ended their relationship just before the holidays," Caldwell's rep said. "The couple remain good friends and, being very private people, appreciate their privacy at this time."

The couple began dating last May.
