The man who directed that video, meanwhile, Brett Ratner, has confirmed to MTV that the heart breaker in question was Nick Jonas.
Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas are no longer sitting in a tree. They haven't been k-i-s-s-i-n-g in months.
How does he know?
During talks with Cyrus regarding video's concept, Ratner visited the singer's house and was shown "all of her personal items from under her bed that her ex-boyfriend gave her." Jonas - who Cyrus has said she used to date - was never mentioned, but here's the major hint:
"The necklace she's wearing in the video is the necklace [the boy] gave her," Ratner said. "She's wearing his diabetes or medical necklace."
Indeed, Nick Jonas has Type 1 diabetes and is a spokesperson for awareness of the disease.
He's also currently dating Selena Gomez, which explains the rumored tension between her and Miley.
