Levi Johnston, the boyfriend / baby-daddy of Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin's 17-year-old pregnant daughter Bristol Palin, is going to join the family at the Republican National Convention, according to his mother.
He left Alaska to fly to St. Paul, Minn., where Sarah will speak tonight.
GOP vice presidential candidate Palin announced Monday that her daughter is five months pregnant and plans to marry Levi Johston, 18.
To answer some of the comments on this site from yesterday, you have to be two years older than the minor for it to be considered statutory rape. He isn't. Doesn't anyone read Casey Aldridge and Jamie Lynn Spears news?
Asked to respond to reports that the young couple had been pressured to marry, mom Sherry Johnston replied, "Absolutely not."
She said that Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin had made plans to get maried even before found out learned that Bristol was pregnant.
Like Bristol, Johnston was raised in Wasilla, Alaska, where he was a star forward for his high school hockey team, the Wasilla Warriors.
According to Levi Johnston’s MySpace page (no longer accessible on the site), he likes to ride dirt bikes and enjoys camping and fishing.
An Alaskan newspaper reported that Johnston and three friends narrowly escaped harm in a mountain avalanche while snowboarding last winter.
A Palin relative said the couple's romance and pregnancy was more of an open secret than anything closely guarded among family members in Wasilla.
"They kind of let everyone know [last May] and word traveled quick," the relative says. "We were surprised, but everyone is positive."

As hard as it may be ignore the comments of media spinners. As a family man I respect totally the way you handled your family affairs. This is not easy on you or your husband, but you done as a family unit of support.

Governor Palin needs to go forward and ignore all the other media garbage put out by the bitter, jealous, abortion-loving libs. Go McCain-Palin 2008! Take the Messiah-Cliff Claven ticket Down. Maybe the desperate mainstream will figure out that their Chicago Thug bully tactics don't scare away strong, proud Conservative women like GOVERNOR SARAH PALIN.
