I don't understand why some of his fans are so upset. It was not that hard to tell that the boy was Gay. There were no if's, ands or buts about it to me.
I read a comment where one of his fans said she was so upset she wouldn't answer her telephone and could not even go to work the next day. To me, that's about the nuttiest thing I've ever heard in my life!!!! I hope when or if she called in to her workplace, she didn't tell them she wasn't coming in because she found out Clay was Gay.

  2. Sysol Says:

People who are shocked or upset by this are just plain stupid!! OMG it's been soooo obvious since the beginning that this boy was gay! People are so judgemental, and I totally agree with "Who Care" about Christians being hypocritical and judegemental. That's the reason I quit going to church in the first place. I'm not gay myself, but I am all for gay rights. I have several friends that I love dearly that are gay, and I hate seing them persecuted daily for their lifestyle. I think people should keep their hateful opinions to them selves, and let people live their own lives!!

To add different perspective to all of this, the Bible doesn't say that we aren't to judge whether certain behaviors are sinful or not. It just says that we are to remember that if we judge others, that we better keep in mind that we are sinners as well and will be judged by God as well. Jesus was speaking those "Judge not, lest you be judged.." words at a time when people got stoned to death if they were caught committing adultery and He was pointing out that all of us are sinners and thus not fit to be casting the first stone (not fit to deal harshly or hatefully with someone else's sin as if we are not sinners ourselves). However, there would be no place in scripture for the 10 commandments or anything else like that if Christians weren't supposed to judge between what God finds sinful vs. what God finds righteous.

I know it is so much easier to judge acts like murder or adultery as being unrighteous in the mainstream, secular world we live in, but the Bible clearly says that homosexuality is a choice and that it is wrong. As much as some Christians would love to believe they are being less judgmental by saying that we shouldn't judge homosexual behavior as being unrighteous, if you believe the Bible to be the true word of God, then you can't deny that God did not create people to be gay and that God does take exception to homosexual behavior. Believe me..I am NOT a hateful Christian about this matter much as homosexual issues have hurt me deeply (a boyfriend I knew for six years and loved deeply coming out of the closet). In spite of the time he wasted in my life, I would still love to be able to say that he couldn't help what he did to me and that being gay is just another way of living that is of no issue to God, but that would be an absolute lie.

I am sure Clay Aiken still has wonderful attributes as a human being, but the other thing all of you need to consider is that Clay's behavior early on in his career was very deceptive and even bordered on blasphemous. I haven't been in denial that he was gay the last few years, but no matter how clueless and stupid and judgmental you think all the people were that thought he was straight and are now distressed about it, Mr. Aiken holds some serious responsiblity in all of this for his behavior. I don't care if he appeared to be the gayest person on the face of the earth from day 1 in some people's eyes....Nobody should EVER go on national television and say that they are not only not gay (when they are), but that the reason they are a virgin is because they are a devout Christian who deeply respects women. That is just taking the lie to a whole new level. No matter how dumb all of you think these fans were, there is no fan out there that just falls in love with a singer's voice. Fans fall in love with the whole person and the whole person they thought Clay Aiken was was a straight, virgin male who was a virgin because of his profound relationship with Jesus Christ (not that he was a virgin because he had yet to give himself over to sleeping with men). I am sure most of these people realized fully that they would never date or marry or sleep with Clay, but the point is that he was a standard of what they upheld as Christian moral excellence and they have a right to believe what they believe just as all of you believe you have a right to believe what you believe. If it made their day that there was a man out there that was incredibly talented and shared their common values and now they are crushed that that person was just a myth, then none of you have any right to speak to these people as if they are morons and Clay had no right to lead them on even if it was obvious to me and to many that he was gay. Clay absolutely knew that he was not making money just off of his voice. He knew he was making money off of the lying myth that he had created (that he was this sweet, sensitive, single, virginal Christian male). Most of the money he made was from attracting the type of fan base that appreciated those things about him and I don't really see how he can sleep at night with all the money that he made off of these people when the whole image was one big lie. Heck..he did everything but wear a "True Love Waits" ring in that first interview he did with Diane Sawyer back in '03 where he was speaking of his values and beliefs and how wrong it was for people to accuse him of being gay just because he didn't sleep around.

The final thing I have to say about all of this is you can't judge a person for something that isn't believed to be immoral or wrong and Clay certainly doesn't believe that he is doing anything wrong. He isn't penitent about his actions at all. He has given himself over to the belief that God made him this way (if He even still embraces the beliefs of his Christian upbringing) and the fact that he has become so deeply vested in all of this is evident in that he had a baby by artificial insemination with a friend. He is being quite "in our face" with all of this if he really believes he has done anything wrong and I am having a lot of trouble reconciling how he can be a Christian and say that God made him this way and that he is doing nothing wrong. If Clay wants to renounce his Christian beliefs, that is one thing and I do agree that nobody has a right to be cruel to him because he is a sinner, but it is hogwash that Christians aren't allowed to say that they believe homosexuality is sinful behavior and it is further hogwash to say that Clay has a right to say he is a Christian and that there is nothing wrong with what he is doing and it is beyond, beyond wrong to deceive people and make money off of them all based on a lie. Maybe our society shouldn't idolize celebrities the way they do, but it is a lie to say that celebrities don't make money off of their persona as well as their talent.

  4. LinnyJ Says:

I am a 58 yr old grandother and hope some of you young kids out there will take some advice about life. No one is perfect and the way to evaluate a person is by the type of person they are and how they treat people. If you take a good look around you, you will find liars, cheats, wife and child beaters, people who commit to a person through marriage with sacred vows and then forget about them and follow their own pleasure. There are murderers, not just of the physical body, but also of minds (self esteem, self worth etc.). PLEASE GET A REALITY CHECK ABOUT WHAT GOES ON AROUND YOU AND RE THINK YOUR PETTY COMMENTS ABOUT TWO PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO LIVE THEIR LIVES, THEIR WAY, WITHOUT HURTING ANYONE and in fact HAVE HELPED OTHERS AND GIVEN US THE BEST OF THEMSELVES. Their private life behind doors is ABSOLUTELY NONE OF OUR BUSINESS......and has nothing to do with their kindness, generosity and goodness of spirit!

  5. Clay Aiken Says:

There is no proof that any bible is the word of God, only faith and belief!

The bible is a book of stories written by mortal men and subject to the culture and era in which it has been written. The only choice one makes with regard to sexuality is to either be honest and open minded vs. bigoted and self-serving to the extent that you force your unsolicited religious beliefs on others and have the nerve to do it in the name of Jesus or God. Neither Jesus nor God would ever hate nor judge those that they have created. In fact, to quote from your precious bible, you have been told to do neither.

Gays have been here forever and they always will and anything less than tolerance is hatred. You don't have to approve or agree but you should always respect the rights of others to live the live that God gave them, whatever that may be.

Heaven is not a place that permits nor promotes hatred. So, either open your mind and go to heaven or keep it closed and go to hell!

  6. So what? Says:

Look, the guy enjoys being queer, that's all there is to it. Some people won't be fans any more because obviously they don't feel they can relate to the context of his music any more. I mean, what normal guy wants to hear a gay dude sing about love, knowing his thoughts are more about loving other dudes? It's all just gross to me, though I will defend his right to be gross if he wants too. The poor kid though - he gets to tell his friends his dad is gay and his mom didn't think it necessary to get married to a man who wanted her in order to have the best environment she could provid for him. Sorry, but that's just selfish, and the baby will carry that burden forever - hopefully the other kids won't taunt him too badly.
