Comedian Bernie Mac is in "very, very critical" condition at a Chicago hospital but is still fighting, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The revelation came after the comic's publicist told the media Saturday afternoon that she had received multiple calls from news outlets regarding the "absolutely untrue" rumors that Bernie Mac is dead.

"It is a very horrible rumor," publicist Danica Smith said. "It is absolutely untrue. Nothing has changed from yesterday."

The 50-year-old Chicago resident's hospitalization was reported Friday. Bernie was admitted for pneumonia but was responding well to treatment, and word was that he should be released soon. Here's hoping that takes place.

His publicist said the pneumonia is unrelated to Bernie Mac's sarcoidosis, a chronic disease that can inflame tissue, particularly in the lungs.

Mac's sarcoidosis has been in remission since 2005. His wife, Rhonda McCullough, has been with him at the hospital. Get well, Bernie.

This celebrity quote is not really a celebrity quote, but rather a great quote about celebrities, some of whom (cough, John Mayer) have lamely called on the LAPD to better regulate the paparazzi to ensure their "protection."

Here's the response of The Hollywood Gossip's new favorite person, LAPD Chief William J. Bratton, as quoted in the Los Angeles Times:

"If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving herself; Paris is out of town not bothering anybody, thank God; and, evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don't really seem to have much of an issue."

Courtenay Semel isn’t a household name, but she should be.

She’s friends with all the Krazy Kardashians, y'know, and more importantly, she's rumored to have introduced Lindsay Lohan to the vagina.

Apparently Courtenay Semel is a notorious playgirl - she even supposedly stole an LA guy’s girlfriend away from him a few years back.

Until recently was, Courtenay was dating Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson. Semel’s an heir of sorts herself - her dad Terry was the CEO of Yahoo! But it looks like her most recent relationship has ended.

Why? A possible fling this week - with Tila Tequila! See below. Seems like these D-listers were caught getting a little flirty, huh!?

This girl-on-girl duo was bound to happen. When you think about it, Courtenay Semel and Tila Tequila make the perfect, unattractive lesbian couple.

The twosome partied together at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, then hit up Crown Bar where they ran into - who else - Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, who sat in a corner laughing at the lovebirds for much of the night.

Semel told the New York Post, "I don't comment on my personal life."

According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, Nikki Blonsky and her father got into an altercation in the departure lounge at the Providenciales airport in the Turks and Caicos islands in the Caribbean.

Sources say the Hairspray actress and her pops fought with the family of former America's Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden over saving seats in the lounge; allegedly, families on both sides were throwing down, yelling and cursing.

Considering the size of Nikki Blonsky's "weapons," who would dare to get into a fight with this actress?

Both D-list celebrities have been charged with assault, two counts worth for Blonsky. Moreover, Nikki's father Carl was also charged with inflicting bodily harm, for his supposed beatdown of Elaine Golden, Bianca's mom.

No snarky comment can do justice to this story.

"Mom, why'd you pay them lawyers all that money so I could visit you just to ignore me like you always do?"

Verne Troyer's ex is firing back at the 2'8" actor after he accused her of emotional and physical abuse in a $20 million lawsuit filed yesterday.

"This lawsuit is ridiculous and riddled with lie upon lie from Verne Troyer and his camp," Holly Bannon, a rep for Ranae Shrider, said in a statement.

"The claim is, in our opinion, a shamelessly transparent attempt to generate as much publicity as he can from his less than average career in the wake of his most recent failure in The Love Guru."

Now that's a low blow. Even more so than the kind she's used to.

Thursday, lawyers for Verne Troyer said he feared for his safety after Shrider beat him, dropped him and, another time, held him against his will.

Troyer's lawyer said, in what may be the celebrity quote of the year: "When you pick up a 2'8" human being and throw him to the floor, it hurts."

But Ranae Shrider's rep says it's all bogus.
