In what would truly be a watershed moment for both the decline of popular music and the rise of the celebrity gossip industry, Britney Spears might actually perform again at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
MTV's head honcho says he'd welcome an encore from the troubled singer.
"Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?" Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks, said of Britney, who's supposedly working on a new album.
When asked if he was just joking, Toffler said, "Sorta."
A scantily clad Britney Spears famously attempted her career "comeback" at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas in 2007.
To say that viewers were disappointed by Britney's phoned-in performance of "Gimme More" would be the understatement of all time.
This year's VMAs will be in Los Angeles on September 7. Maybe Jamie Lynn and Lynne can come watch, giving us the Spears mom tri-fecta!
"I'm not sure how we top Britney opening the show," Toffler said. "But please know we are working on it every minute of every day."

Yes, Yes let her perform. She deserves another chance and then another. She did really well this year considering all that she has been through!!

Shes an amazing performer, when she isn't all f'd up. She has an amazing body (touched up or not). F' yeah I'd love to see her perform.
