Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas: The Interview
Shayne Lamas won the final rose on the The Bachelor Monday when Matt Grant got down on one knee and proposed to the 22-year-old fame-seeking ditz aspiring actress with a 2.85-carat Tacori platinum and diamond eternity ring.
The soon-to-be-wed couple spoke to Us Weekly about falling in love on reality TV, e-mailing 50 times a day and their wedding plans:
Us: Let's talk about the happy news and how you're feeling. Matt what made you choose Shayne on The Bachelor finale?
Shayne Lamas and Matt Grant: Together for at least a few months.
Matt Grant: Well, from really early on it was obvious that Shayne and I had chemistry, a natural rapport. Everything was just always a pleasure to be around her. I always at ease and it always felt that we were at ease. If anything, it was just almost the point feeling negative from it was that she's too good to be true. It's funny cause I kept saying to myself, off set, at my hotel, it's almost too good to be true - quite the negative. I realized there really wasn't any that we did just spin it. It's just kind of funny when you don't expect that when you meet someone on reality TV.
Shayne Lamas: I feel the same way.
Us: Obviously the chemistry between you two was pretty obvious throughout the entire the series, I would say. How are you both feeling now?
Shayne Lamas: I think that I'm just excited for us to be public and everybody could know, friends and family. We've been so secret with our lives the past two months that I think we're just excited that it's over. We can be public and together and go walk our dogs down the street together and go to the grocery store, do simple things in life that we really haven't been able to do because we've been sequestered on rendezvous', you know, stuck in houses. I think that's what I'm most excited about.
Matt Grant: Yeah, definitely. It's just starting a life together properly. The period up until now, the two months that we've been undercover and having to live this secret relationship and it's been good in many ways because it's just really made us appreciate and realize what we have. It's just really built our relationship, made it even stronger actually.
Shayne Lamas: I think if you can be stuck in a house with somebody for over 72 hours and not be able to walk out the front door, you're good.
Us: That is the truth test of a relationship.
Shayne Lamas: That is definitely! Without ripping each other's heads off!
Matt Grant: With the pressures of the show going out as well and everything else and all of the external pressures as well, you really put [inaudible] again. It really made both of the sweet life and probably good for the occasion sometimes. I know I just sort of come away, me in the car driving away from where we've been and just think, "Thank God, I'm so lucky to have met this woman." I really felt just so grateful that someone had enabled me to meet her. I know that sounds really cheesy, but it's genuinely how I felt.
Shayne Lamas: Aww baby that is so sweet! I love you.

Shayne is so refreshing and beautiful. There seems to be bad things being said about Shayne and her Dad. I'm from his generation and I thought he was a wonderful actor.

It was entertainment. If they are for real, they will have the last laugh. If they are truly investing in this relationship, they will get couples therapy and not make any quick decisions to please the viewing audience. After all, they both keep saying they want to start a family and be married forever.....good luck with that under even the most normal circumstances! I hope they are willing to do the work!

Shayne was my pick from the start. I was terrified Matt would choose Chelsea who obviously was not that into him. I just wish there had been an "After the Rose" show. What happend with that?

I wish someone would share the real truth about Matt and Shane. One website states that they're breaking up and another states they're getting married next week. What's the real deal here? I think they make an awesome couple and I really hope the end up getting married, and having beautiful children together. It's obvious there is love and passion between them.

Shayne and Matt -- I think that the two of you made a great decision to be together. Shayne opened up early on in the show and she never waivered from her feelings for Matt. We tend to quickly judge TV performances whether it's a reality show or whatever, but can we truly say how people really are just by watching them on TV.
