Some sad news on the heels of an exciting American Idol finale:

Season seven finalist Luke Menard has been diagnosed with cancer.

According to a relative, a biopsy showed a mass to be a symptom of Stage Two Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system.

Menard is currently back in his hometown of Crawfordsville, Indiana with his wife Lara; he's in treatment for the disease.

"He is surrounded by his family," the relative said. "They want to help him beat this and move on."

We wish Luke Menard a speedy recovery.
