I really have no idea why this matter is still being discussed. It is truly a dead issue. The winner's name when read was David Cook. Whether Cook got most of the votes or not, he was proclaimed the winner of "Season 7 American Idol".
The issue might rather be, how did David Cook win AI.
And this is my OPINION, and it is only an OPINION. David Archuleta was leading the voting until Simon and Ryan went on the talk show circuit before the finale and started throwing Archuleta in front of the bus; not under it where he might easily survive, but in front of where he'd surely get smashed.
David Archuleta was thoroughly bad-mouthed by both of these people and the public bought what they sold. That David was inarticulate and would not come off well as the winner of AI. Well, what a surprise to later read that Cowell said there was no charisma from any of the Season 7 cast after the show. This was said about the young man Simon said this about, "I wish I had what you have", he also said, "David Archuleta has "IT", whatever "IT" is, he has it. Yes, Simon actually said that during the show, yet he would later go on to promote Cook. But why?
Leona Lewis. What else. There was never a battle between the "DAVIDS". The battle was between the Davids and Lewis. Simon makes tons of money from Lewis as a finder sort of. I'm sure you all recalll his promoting her on "Oprah". By The Way, Archuleta has yet to appear on "Oprah", and Simon and Oprah seem to be best buds. Anyway, while the public was focused on the Davids Lewis flew under the radar and straight to the top of the charts.
Another reason is Cook's brother. While Cook seldom mentioned his brother it was brought up during the final shows as a reminder to the public that Cook has a brother suffering from cancer and perhaps could use the winner's money. Surely a bartender can't possibly make that much.
Another thing to factor in is this little tidbit: not all of Archuleta's fans voted for him. It was known among voters that perhaps the best thing for David Archuleta would be to not be named the winner in view of previous winners. So many fans did not vote for David Archuleta. And the result of David's after Idol experience is exactly what they hoped it would be. So they're happy. How many votes does that translate into? Who knows.
One more thing to consider here. Do you all remember that Cowell apologized to Cook just before the winner was announced? Why was that necessary? The night before he gave Archuleta well deserved glowing remarks and proclaimed himself, Archuleta as the winner, yet he now apologizes to Cook. Giving some flimsy excuse about looking at the finale video in his home or some crap, and seeing it differently. Simon seems to forget the not only he but Randy and Paula gave the same reviews to Archuleta that finale night. And everyone watching would have agreed. Archuleta outperformed Cook to the point where even Cook still says he thought Archuleta had won. So the question becomes, How did Cook win. Not Should he have won. Cowell not only apologized to Cook and in turn slapped Archuleta in the face but he gave Cook the winking smile to let him know he was the winner even though the name had yet to be announced. It was so obvious from the moment that Wednesday show began that Cook would be the winner. Everything that night was focused on Cook. Even though both David's had mics, Cook was the one doing most of the talking. Yeah, they knew Cook would be named the winner.
Even a supposed accounting firm can be manipulated and a result tampered with. **Again my personal OPINION**.

I tried for hours to vote for D.A without any success. It was weird that Simon apologized to D.C. Even after he performed on Tuesday, DC cried. He knew that he lost. Anyway he was announced as the winner and he knew all along what really happened that night. He must felt so uncomfortable, I wonder how can he live with that? Especially when he sees how sincere D.A. is. That's why I think that D.A. is the one who can enjoy his status as Runner-up. Actually DC had to be disqualified as a participant of AI due to his recording experience. They made D.C. won just because they felt bad about what they did to Daughtry and wanted to show the world that rocker can win AI. Trust me, God gives Daughtry what he should get even more, and God will give D.A. what he should get also even more, Amen, amen, amen!!!!!

I think majority of America knows how Simon Cowell operate. Everytime he opens his mouth he contradict himself. He is just for the money to enrich himself and the People of America is just a SUCKERS (sorry to say that but that is just the truth). All I can say AMERICA: STOP PATRONIZING THE SHOW - HIS GOAL IS NOT TO DISCOVER NEW TALENT THAT IS FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH - HE WANT TO ENRICH HIMSELF THAT IS FOR THE FACT. ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY.

I feel bad for David Cook for he knows for a fact that he is not 100% The America People choice as American Idol for they don't accept and agreed that he is THE RIGHTFUL WINNER. That why this thing is still being discussed until now. For he himself knows on the finale night that David Archuleta nail it. The only reason he won is: 1. IT'S RIGGED OR 2. SYMPATHY VOTE ( don't want to go to detail on this one ) and I don't think he is THE EPITOME OF THE REAL AMERICAN IDOL - For America knows the Arrangement Fiasco and why do you think the producer Mr. Lythgoe head got chopped off - Your guess is as good as anyone.
There is no doubt a thousand miles that David Archuleta has a better voice than Cook. The only one who would say Cook has a great voice is his diehard fans.
SO FOR THE COOK FANS ITS TIME TO MOVE ON - YES, HE IS THE WINNER BUT NOT THE REAL WINNER. SO STOP CONVINCING THE WHOLE WORLD HE HAS A GREAT VOICE FOR IT IS NOT.

They still talking about this its been a long time and the new season has already started.
I feel bad for Mr. Cook that just to proved that he is not the rightful winner. I could just feel how Mr. Cook feel - I believed he would've rather not won The American Idol. Looking at it right now - It's just a stress.
I think majority of the viewer knows the result was manipulated. AI is just for the money - not to find the real talent. It's just very obvious that Archuleta has a better voice than Cook and if you watch the finale the fans and the judges it was a knock out and its obvious that Archuleta did well that night. I think AI did a big screw up to say the least they try to rigged the result and saying its 12 million votes that does not translate to a 12 million individual votes. If they want it to be more believable they could have just done it in a subtle way like 1 million or 2 million - that will look like more realistic and it won't be questionable plus there is so much controversy in this show I don't think America is that stupid.
The last thing that was surprising to was why did they chop off the head of the producer: Mr. Lythgoe? Your guess is as good as any one the timing was just bad. But anyway its time to move on I wish they stop writing about anything to do with season 7 not to over shadow the season 8 AI. For AI want to make money and I know a lot of people won't be waching this show for they are just turned off no matter what changes they will do. I still wish them the best.

WE KNOW HE IS THE REAL AMERICAN IDOL. WE KNOW AMERICAN IDOL WAS RIGGED. BUT AS LONG AS THIS WONDERFUL YOUNG "MAN" IS SUCCESSFUL AND HAPPY WHO CARES WHAT THE "AMERICAN IDOL" - David C or the show does. He evidently is supporting his family for the most part and that is a big task and responsibility for him to bear. I so admire him and his talent. He is still made fun of because he doens't do great interviews - well maybe that is because he is real and i hope he stays that way. God Bless You Mr. David Archuleta!

What do you mean with "he doesn't do great interviews?".
Did you watch when he was interviewed by Shelly, by Slezak etc.? He was great. He is getting better and better each time. Especially the interview he did with Shelly, so cute. Watch it!!!1 After watching it I bet you will say that he is great in interviews.

SHUT UP AND STOP LEAVING COMMENTS THIS IS OLD NEWS - THEY ARE JUST USING THIS TO PROMOTE SEASON 8 FOR THEY KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE WON'T BE WATCHING THIS SHOW.
JUST THINK ABOUT IT THIS IS THEIR MARKETING STRATEGY THAT IS WHY THEY ARE SHOWING THE RE-RUN OF SEASON 7 FOR THEY WANT TO ATTRACT DAVID ARCHULETA FANS TO WATCH IT AND AT THE END GET HOOKED UP TO WATCH SEASON 8 - ITS BRAINWASHING. I HOPE AMERICA WILL WAKE UP AND STOP BEING A SUCKER AMERICA.

Well you guys, he thing is that everybody knows that David Archuleta won. That is for sure.... I felt like crap that day when DC was announced as a winner but you know? now everybody knows and loves and admire David Archuleta even more than a year ago (like it would be possible to love him more), and by the way.... where is Cook?? oh well, whatever. Go kid, we love you to death as always will be... Such a talent, humble personality and .... well you know...., that kid is just amazing
