Face-Off: Should David Archuleta Win American Idol?
The big night is here. The favorite from the onset, David Archuleta has dispatched all but one singer as he closes in on the American Idol crown. But does Archuleta deserve it - or should David Cook win? That's the subject of today's Face-Off ...
SHOULD DAVID ARCHULETA BE THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL?

To paraphrase a line from the great MC Paul Barman, David Archuleta's voice makes even the most anti-choice granny's panties moist.
That may be a crude way of putting it, but there's no denying that young Archuleta has massive appeal - and is a star in the making.
The American Idol world has seen some amazing talent and some real cuties, but David Archuleta may take the cake on both fronts.
This kid is no novelty act, but a true prodigy.
His formidable fellow finalist, David Cook, has been lauded for his guitar playing, but don't forget that David Archuleta accompanied himself on piano during his renditions of "Another Day in Paradise" and "Angels." He's got game!
Oh, and what an inspirational story! Archuleta once suffered partial vocal paralysis (from which he is still recovering)! He's controlled by his insane father! He couldn't even go to his prom! What more can he do to win our hearts?
He's the only guy not named Jack Daniel to bring Paula Abdul to tears. Just "imagine" what he could do with an entire CD!

David Archuleta is more boring than a PBS documentary about pocket lint.
The 17-year old has an incredible voice for his age, no doubt, but American Idol is as much about commercial success as it is about hitting every note. The show is searching for the next musical superstar.
Does the country really want another Taylor Hicks-type champion? Speaking of which: take away Taylor's gray hair for a moment. What are you left with?
It's David Archuleta! Another cute, cuddly singer with no chance of ever winning a Grammy.
We know you love squealing at the sight of Archuleta, teenage girls, but think about the sort of music you like listening to now. Beyonce. Miley Cyrus. Rihanna.
These stars dance around to catchy pop tunes.
Archuleta stands still and sings the same tired ballads every week.
Conversely, David Cook is versatile, creative and fun. It's easy to see him as the next Chris Daughtry.
So that's your choice, America: another Daughtry, or a teenage version of Josh Grobin. What, you haven't heard of Josh Grobin? Exactly.
Step aside, David Archuleta. David Cook is the true American Idol.

David A. in my opinion needs alot more work on his talent to be able to have a rewarding career. David Cook allready has the experience and the talent to have a very rewarding career for years and years to come.

I think DA has the voice of an angel, but that's it. It takes more than fab vocals to be an idol: you need personality, originality, etc. DC truly seems to be well-rounded and embody all of these qualities. While I certainly do not deny that DA is a vocal prodigy, DC absolutely is the one that fits the bill all around as a true american idol.

That's exactly what I thought. How come David A gets through every week with girls SCREAMING! After thinking about it for a few hours, I realized it's so obvious that the people who votes for David A is just voting because he's a sweet, innocent kid with a lovely voice (and I don't deny that he is sweet and innocent). The girls who scream at him every week obviously just scream because he's a cutie. Because I can't imagine those girls listening to a CD by David Archuleta which has ballads inside and out. Try to imagine yourself listening that kind of stuff if you are a TRUE David A fan because truthfully that's the kind of songs that he will be making.

both are really good....
personally i think DA should win... there's nothing really wrong with ballads... he has classical voice that would be remembered..
plus i don't know but i sometime don't understand and feel the words when DC sings... sorrry

I agree that DA has a classical voice, but his parents should recognise that and should have had his voice classically trained instead of pushing him into a forum that he is just not ready for emotionally. David Cook is the clear winner of this season's Idol. He is a performer whereas DA is a singer.

David Archuleta obviously should have won American Idol. Yea he did sing alot of ballads, but thats who he is and thats what he does. He's good at it and he shouldnt be judged for it. Now as for David Cook, we all know where he's going. He's gonna be another Chris Daughtry with his rock songs and probably a band. We dont need that again. We need something different and David Archuleta was that something different. And besides, the fan girls want someone close to their age who's a real cutie. Someone who they can listen to and drool over. They can't do that with David Cook.

SO HAPPY DC WON, HE DESERVED IT...HE IS A TALENTED HOT DUDE, I LOVE HIS VOICE, AND HE CAN SING ANY SONG, EVEN IF HE HAS THIS ROCKSTAR PACKAGE...WHILE DA CAN ONLY DO BALLADS...ITS SO OBVIOUS...IN THEIR FINAL SONG AT AI, DA CAN'T DELIVER, HE IS SUPER POWERED BY THE VOICE AS WELL AS THE STAGE PRESENCE OF DC...AI IS NOT VOICE PER SE, IT'S THE WHOLE PACKAGE,,,HE IS THE FIRST AI WORTH WATCHING.

You Americans are so dumb!!! Of course Cook won because you consume that kind of screaming "pseudo grunge" second hand singer and then forget about them... Cook is not bad for a band singer leading, but please!!! No way you can compare that with someone who at 17 is already a jewel. Agreed with Jasmine... Cook is another Daughtry... the difference is that Daughtry is leading a band and recognized he can't be a solo artist.... DA should won OF COURSE.

i fur shuree think david a should have won!! but david cook is also really good! i liked them both..so its all done and over with..stop trashing both of them! neither of them deserve to be trashed! they are both getting records and we will be hearing a lot of them. just be happy with what happened.

the only reason DC won is because the producers wanted him to. My god!!! Are you people tone deaf or something?!?!?! DA is clearly the better singer. End of the story. The producers of Idol wanted Cook to win because he is more 'manageable'. Look at the song they chose for DA the top 3 week. 'Longer'? Are you freaking kidding me? And when he wanted to arrange the song differently, to shake it up a little bit, they totally dissed him in the face. Even Simon had it all planned out. He knows that when he gives over-the-top compliments to someone, the fans would go crazy and vote for the remains. 'the kiss of death' he said. And he apologized because he didn't want to look bad in front of people. I watched the last performances hundreds of times and I still think DA's performances were far better.
Cook is just a Daughtry gone bad. How can Cook even be anywherein the same universe as Chris, and yet he won and Chris Daughtry didn't. WTF people?
I should quote my good friend :"Cook will do a Ford commercial, lose more hair, extend his beer belly and fade off into obscurity. He and Taylor Hicks will email each other once in a while and wonder why being the American Idol is so lame."
Ok so Cook is creative, but then again, Archie is too. His arrangements of some of the songs were waaayy better than the originals. And his voice is just so beautiful and unique, there's just a certain magic to it, he's the only singer that has ever been able to make me cry listening to him, it's like he can touch my heart.
Besides, he's such a great role model, some body you can look up to. He's so humble, witty, friendly, caring, selfless. He always putting other people first. I love it how he spent one of his rare spare days after Idol singing for troubled teens, and he wanted to arrange a concert in Utah just so he can sing and talk to fans, since he didn't have the chance to really talk to them during the homecoming. The tickets would only cost a dollar, and all the money would be donated to charity. But then again, he was dissed again by the producers of AI. He just has a heart of gold and a beautiful soul. Not just that, he's a good son and a straight-As student. Don't you want your kids to have an idol like that, people?
After all is said, DA didn't lose AI, AI lost DA. And I believe that he will always be loved and will have an extremely bright future ahead. And I will always be a Archey Angel, and proud

I love David Archuleta, and I coudn't agree with kelly more. He's just deserve to win so much more than Cook. But what's done is done, and Archie doesn't need American Idol , he will have an amazing career.

What is wrong with ballads?!?! David Archuleta's music helped me through the hardest time of my life. If it wasn't for his smile humble performances and "master class" volcals as Simon put. But David A. will prove that Idol was unnessacary because he will be just as sucsseful as cook if not more. And think what kind of Idol do you want kids to have. Smart,Caring, good kid, humble,heart of gold. Well guess who has all of that David Archuleta does!

People, please look at the facts.(1)This is just my opinion but I honestly think Archie should have won but it's over now and just because he didn't win doesn't make him any less of who he is.(2)Cook fans, it absolutly brings me to tears when I see the horrible things you write in comments about him. I'm not talking about all Cook fans, but some of you can be really cruel. David A. is a beautiful person inside and out, a true inspiration and role model to me and so many others in the world, and his voice has done wonderful things for a lot of peolpe. Please don't bring him and his fans down.(3)I strongly believe that God put David on this earth to give people hope in this world at it's time of trouble, war, and evil. He is someone who truly cares about others and there is nothing fake about him at all.
I could go on and on with other wonderful things to say about him, but if I did this would be a really long comment. Cook fans, don't think I don't like or respect DC.It's just that I love DA,and I hate seeing mean, untrue things written about him. I think he has a great personality, he is funny, and he's like a big brother to Archie. His music and singing doesn't do anything for me but I think he's cool. I guess that is all I have to say for now, but I think the Cook and Archie war should stop because it will only bring them and thier fans down.
