David Cook Wins American Idol!
After a dramatic, tension-filed few months, David Cook defeated David Archuleta by 12 million votes to capture the seventh season title on American Idol.
Ryan Seacrest made the announcement, and then his introduced the winner to the audience with the following words, causing Cook to break down in tears:
A bartender and now the winner of this competition, brought to us by his brother... David Cook!

David Cook, you are one fine talented musician. Your honesty and natural talent that you bring every time to the stage and anywhere , is absolutely outstanding. We love you here in Canada, as I am sure you will be loved by many everywhere. Keep it real bro. You rock.

I almost didn't believe it. I'm a DC fan through and through but I was bracing myself for Ryan to announce Archie won. You know what? CONGRATS! I should have had more faith in you and your awesome voice!

Congrats David!!! i am so excited for you. i know that you'll be winning Grammys in the near future. i watched the show all season long from Jamaica and realized that you have immense talent. So one love David and walk good!!!!

David Cook won because he showed creativity, diversity and WAS WILLING to take risks and do songs out of the POP only genre. Sometimes it did not work as well, but hey we all have a bad day. In the future he should develop more of his soulful and blues side...
D.A. has a nice melodic voice, but he plays it safe with songs that work within his range. He's just not developed enough to create his own style.
Message to the music columnist Jim Farber of the NY Daily News...D.C. is NOT a GRUNGE singer. Too bad you weren't listening to him...or maybe you lost a bet and lots of money...Why else were you SOOOOO ANGRY that he won.
