The apology was necessary because Miley is a role model for teens. I think her parents, however, are more to blame for this behavior rather than herself. Miley is only 15. She has yet to learn how her actions will impact the nation's view of her. Her parents do know, however, and they had a responsibility to stop her.
I also think it was completely inappropriate of Miley to blame this on the photographer. No matter how much the photographer begs or pleads, short of harassment, this was her and her parents' decision only. They did not have an obligation to agree to take the pictures. So in this respect, I place the blame on the subject(s) of the photo rather than those actually taking the pictures.

Those are racy photos? Man, what are we reverting back to the puritanical middle ages? Another sign that religion in this country is taking over when people get all worked up over the tamest pics. Get a life complainers. No need to apologize to anybody.

Okay. . .seriously. . .after reading some of these comments.
Miley is not a hoe. A hoe is somebody who sleeps around with alot of people.
and two. These pictures aren't really THAT bad. I would wear that green dresss.
and all of her back wasn't even out.

it's not like she wasn't informed about what was going on at the time. her entire family was there as the shoot was occurring. she herself was extremely excited for the photos at the time, and to turn around almost instantly and make herself sound like some kind of victim is complete b.s. and an outright insult to a world renowned photographer. she shouldn't be ashamed of the photos, but she should be ashamed of her inconsistency regarding statements about the photos.

Such a big flap over nothing...The photos are oddly sweet and artistic.
20 years from now she'll look at these, think of the fun times of her youth and wonder why she had to apologize.

Grow up people. I am a conservative Utahn and I don't think these pictures are that bad. Heck, I think it would have been more scandalous if she had been in a bikini- it would have shown a heck of a lot more. The picture that shows the most skin is so artistic that it looks like a painting I'd find in an art gallery. I'm sure numerous parents have taken their kids to an art gallery with naked pictures and girls and didn't think twice about it.

Lets be honest ladies and gentlemen....The only reason Ms.Cyrus issued a apology is because Disney probably threatened to pull her contract if she didnt.So she decides to play their game and in the process Disney turns their publicity level of venom to Vanity Fair.But of course...Im not telling you anything....you dont already know.

My gosh! you people that say they are not that bad. Seriously have a problem! i mean right now they might have not been "that bad" Imagine if everyone told her that, she would think its okay if she went a little further with pics like that.
Those pics make her look wayy to older than she really is. I wouldnt want my daughter to pose like that; whats wrong with her dad???

she shouldn't be embarrassed at all. the photos are the most beautiful portraits ever and not racy at all. any girl in a bikini at the beach shows as much skin, and not in such a beautiful way. the artistry of the photographer is amazing.
if anything she should apologize to the photographer for her comments, which seem to shed doubts over the artistic quality of the photos. they are what only a lifelong photographer can achieve.
if we let teenagers and soccer moms define what is art and what is not then... it's sad. let's not be ignorants, let's try to understand.

To be honest, I have seen worse walking around the local shopping centre and the beaches when we go on hoilday. The pictures are fine. People hsould get of their high horse and chill, I can bet money that some of the comments made on here by folks have teenage daughters that do or dress far worse than this and then they blame the Celebs. Look at your parenting first before you mouth off.

I think some of them are just fine. She is getting a little out there though. I think she needs to chill a little though. Some of the lyrics in her song GNO " she says like dontya wish yad been a good boy" and that along with some of her pics and her kids choice award performance, I think she needs to take a breath and think about some of the things shes doing and how they affect her reputation. I have nothing against her. she really is a good role model she just made a mistake and we all do.

I am a mother of two daughters that are Miley crazy. I don't see anything vulgar about the pictures. I think that they are tasteful. People just want something to talk about so they pick her apart. She is 15 years old, a halter top shows more skin. You people should be ashamed to pick on a young girl for showing her back. What were you doing at 15 people shouldn't have published for the public to see? This seems pretty minor to the other issues going on for teens today.

I think people need a reality check. who cares about the pics.if your life is going to be over because of these pics, then you need to step away from the computer for a while. Move to alaska and quit spreading your lack of progress to the rest of the world.
