Celebrities Comment on Miley Cyrus Photos
In case you haven't heard, Miley Cyrus posed for a series of racy photos inside the latest issue of Vanity Fair (on newsstands today!).
As a result, the entertainment news world was abuzz with commentaries and opinions on the pictures, especially one that showed the 15-year old posing seductively, with only a blanket covering her bare chest. But it wasn't just bloggers that shared their views on Miley.
A number of celebrities spoke out on the topic. Here are a few of their reactions:
- Heidi Montag: "I think she's a young girl in Hollywood, and she's just having fun... "[She]'s exploring herself."
- Spencer Pratt: "I didn't think it was that bad. Supposedly, she's wearing a top underneath. It's artistic."
- Lauren Conrad: "I found it a bit silly. I thought she looked beautiful in the pictures. I didn't find it that inappropriate."
- Rosie O'Donnell: "Leave Miley Cyrus alone... Disney [is] making her apologize. Ay yi yi."
- Tyra Banks: "She is a 15-year-old, and I just wish everybody would leave her alone!"
- Hilary Duff: "Everyone goes through things and takes their own path. Who am I to judge decisions that she made?"
- Brenda Song: "I love Miley. I think she's a very talented actress and singer. Whatever she does in her personal life is her personal life."
- Bill O'Reilly: "Look, we have so few role models, particularly for little girls in this country. She is the main one. I hate to see this⦠Parents all over the country like this girl because she is clean-cut."

Oh come on! I have no pity for parents that allow "celebrities" to serve as role models for their children. It's the parent's responsibility to set the standards of which their children should live by. Mylie Cyrus will eventually evolve into whatever character will generate the most money for her...and if that means shedding more clothing...she'll most likely do it.

I definitely don't see anything wrong with it.
I don't see why everyone's getting all up in her personal life. It's her choice what she does.
Just because she has a towel type thing around her doesn't mean you should think any less of her.
It's not like she's about to have sex or anything, so I don't see how you people think it's like a "seduction" type of picture. The only thing that's showing is her shoulders&a little bit of her back.
It's pathetic how just one picture can change a teen stars reputation.
First she's a great role model, then she takes one picture taken&she's a horrible role model.
She didn't do anything wrong.
She's 15, I'm 15. The only thing us teens want to do is have fun.
It's a picture. ONE picture. Get over it.
I'm related to Miley, but it's really distant.
I'm not just saying this stuff just because I'm somewhat related to her, but because this is pathetic how everyone is trashing her.
There are other things going on in the world other than a supposedly "seductive" picture of Miley.
Worry about what's going on in your life&in the world besides of butting into other people's business and trashing them.

While it is unfortunate that stars' private lives aren't private, it's something you deal with. I laughed when her response to the picture was "I thought it was artistic". You're fifteen years old! What's artistic about it? Although, I'm sure she made many child pornographers very happy that day. There's an accomplishment I would want.

The issue isn't the amount of flesh this CHILD is showing, but the image the picture is attempting to portray, which is one of lust and sex! That is why the photo is inappropriate. I consider myself a liberal Mother, but when parents sell their child's face as one of being a role-model to other children of like age and younger, it is their societal duty to ensure the CHILD doesn't do anything in their PUBLIC career to tarnish the image and in turn condone inappropriate behavior to children in society! Especially, when the CHILD is still a mere CHILD!
The absurd comment from the celebrities above are actually insulting! This has NOTHING to do with her "private" life, as it is a PUBLIC magazine for all out children and pedophiles in the County to view! If these photos were taken privately by a friend or other and for personal use then I would care less if they leaked to the public. What I personally find most insulting is that these shots were planned out by MULTIPLE ADULTS and she was posed in these exact positions at the direction of ADULTS! It's child sexual exploitation in my eyes and even though it's not nearly as bad as child pornography, in that no genitalia is displayed, it does border the lines! My reasoning being; child pornography photos are those taken to entice and arouse adults in a sexual manner. Legally, genitalia must be displayed or sex acts. However, this photo is for pure lust and sexual purpose and has absolutely no use beyond that! What are these photos of Miley supposed to do? They are merely to display her as a sex image, which is why i feel they border pornography. They have NOTHING to do with art, as when you have a minor child you don't use them to pose as a sex object! Even if great artist back in the day did similar portraits, should we then also permit young boys to be taught about sex in the same manner as they did back in Platos time? Back then men taught younger boys about sex, by having sex with them. If we feel children can display sex in art, just like previous great portraits, then why cannot older men use younger men for teaching sex? SICK and WRONG folks!
These photos of Miley have absolutely NO purpose other then to display her as a sex object! There is NOTHING in this photo that says, 'I'm a fifteen year old role-model for young girls in society'!
Disgusting and ALL adults that were present or condoned this shoot are sick and should be charged with child endangerment! At the very least they should ALL be making public apologies for prostituting this child's image, as they did it for money and sales numbers ONLY! Not one of those adults involved were the least bit concerned about our daughters possibly thinking this type of behavior is okay, b/c their idol did the same thing!
P.S. Why would any sane adult feel these are "tasteful" photos of a minor child? She is wearing red lipstick, a cloth in front of her chest so she appears naked, and displaying a face of seduction! Where have our morals gone and we wonder why our children are being displayed as sex objects and pedophiles are stealing them left and right in our County! We condone it and parade them around like little women ready for sex! Many of the posters on here would not be making the same statements of agreement if it were their kid sister, daughter, or grand-daughter! I know I would NEVER let my 15 y/o daughter pose in a manner of this nature. Maybe 18 y/o, but never condoned at 15 y/o!

I don't think people should make such a big deal out of someone's decision. If a person that wasn't famous did this in an artistic way as Miley did, we wouldn't make it public or freak out about it.

I think the Miley Cyrus semi-nude photos are inappropriate for her age. My children love Miley and watch her show and cry if they cannot attend her concerts. Seeing her this way will possibly send the wrong message to young girls. It is not okay for a young girl to expose herself in this way. With child pornography, stalkers and things like that going on in the world I just think she needs to be mindful of the things she is asked to do and make better choices with or without her parent's presence.
