Another American Idol Shocker: Carly Smithson Eliminated!
Tonight's American Idol results may not have been as shocking as the night Michael Johns was shown the door. But there's no way we imagined anyone not named Brooke White would be going home.
Instead - because viewers obviously felt sorry for White after she forgot the lyrics to "You Must Love Me" on Tuesday night - Carly Smithson was voted out.
We've been Brooke backers all season long, but she deserved to be sent home this week. Smithson put on an inspired, lively rendition of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and, let's face it, Brooke choked under the pressure. It was time for her to go.

you know i'm so sick of hearing how carly had a record deal...guess what so did most of the others....michael johns recorded stuff....as well as david cook...carly had a cd come out in 2001...when she was 16...guess what...brooke white released a cd in 2005...just 3 years ago...and she went on tour as an opening act...in the US...so i'd say it's really not fair that carly got all the crap when brooke just had an album out 3 years ago...i'd say she got to "live the dream" more than carly...why didn't she get any crap for it....

This comment is little late but both my wife & I feel Carly should have been one of the final Three Contestants. There is no question regarding her talent - Its there!! She is definitely very personable to boot. However, unfortunately for her, she did not gather enough of the "popular" vote in what is supposed to be a "Talent" competition. Carly, we look forward to the release of your first CD!! and remember what Randy told you at the end of the show; "its a mere beginning!"

I miss Carly! I was really bummed that she was let go BUT hopefully soon, she will make a cd that we can all go and buy. She reminds me of Celine Dion with the tone of her voice and her range. I can't wait to see what she does with this! Every year , just like some of you have said, the really good ones go home. However, this year, I really LOVE David Cook. He is original and I know that he could definately create an awesome rock cd. Daughtry did it and I know David Cook is gonna sell like mad just like Daughtry STILL is! Yippee! He should have won season 5 hands down and he was the 4th one to go that year. So, there is hope for Miss Carly Smithson! If you see this, Carly, we love you and wish you all the best!!

Carly was the best singer this season. It's a foregone conclusion that we're looking at a showdown of the two Davids for the finale, But Carly DESERVED to be in the top 3. That rendition of Jesus Christ Superstar still has me humming. Brilliant. AI is basically just a popularity contest. I look forward to buying her first album and watching her move on to having a terrific career as an artist. America REALLY dropped the ball on this one. (Ideal finale for me would have been: David Cook/Carly Smithson. They are probably the two most talented contestants in the history of AI. Archuleta has nice pipes. But he's a kid who needs more experience.)

I can't believe Carly was eliminated. The fans have their heads up their asses!!! Carly should have won!! She has an AMAZING voice. No one on that show can hold a candle to her!! I can't believe Brooke even made it to Hollywood. Damn she SUCKS. She can't sing for crap!! I'm so glad I have a DVR. I had to fast forward through Brooke each time!! Carly is better then anyone on that show!! I will buy any CD she makes!!

My daughter and I were very shocked and upset with Carly's removal from Am. Idol. Carly has raw talent, fabulous voice, on pitch, good relations w/ audience. We both truely thought Am. Idol would be between Carly and David Cook. I hope Carly continues to rock on and bless all of us who love her voice with future albums.
