  1. may Jackman Says:

I was so ANGRY that M.J. was eliminated!!! Ryan should be FIRED for what he did! American Idol is not a Singing Competition, just a popularity contest...I will not invest my time watching anymore if they don't change the ruling on Votes...the Judges should have 1/2 the votes ,the other half by the phone in's...it's time to change the format or No one will continue watching!!Ryan should apologize to M.J. !!!

  2. Missy Says:

Mabey we will wake up and find this was just a bad dream.

Who next, David Cook? The show will not be the same without him.

  3. Joanne Says:

I was as surprised as Micheal and Paula were that he was eliminated. I wasn't impressed with Ryan's manner in stating that they didn't eliminate anyone at this point in the show last year, but we're saying good-bye to Michael tonight was one of the tackiest things I've witnessed in television. I looked forward to watching the show each week, but now I think it would be similar to watching a train wreck. The voting should be balanced by the expert panel to make sure injustices like this don't happen. Michael's likely better off now regardless. I'll buy his records and I'm sure alot of people will. In my humble opinion, he's more talented and worth watching and listening to than any of the past idol winners, with the exception of just a few.

  4. Haley Says:

I seriously can't believe Michael Johns got voted off, there's no way. My mouth dropped to the floor when Ryan Seacrest announced it. I've been voting for him every week! I'll watch it Tuesday to see if they bring him back somehow, but after that I'm definitely done for this season! Because it's ridiculous, he was the most talented one out of them all! Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White, and Syesha Mercado all need to leave. They're nothing special at all, especially compared to Michael (: Soooo American Idol, bring him back to the show!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. G.R.R Says:

Well.. there is certainly no point watchng AI anymore with MJ gone. That was the most ridiculous elimination ever!!! Was there something really wrong with the voting system or what?! certainly he got more votes than kristy lee?? no??? anyway. Either he should be brought back.. or just get him a record deal already..i wud buy his album today! such a nice guy too apparently..sigh..been 4 days already im still not over it..

  6. G.R.R. Says:

Also.. after all their hard work with the idol gives back show..having had such a effing hectic week.. they SHOULD NOT HAVE eliminated anyone last weeek ! Ryan seacrest i hope you regret everyday the way u sent MJ home.So cold.

  7. CHERYL Says:

NO! NO! NO! WHY? WHY? WHY? CRY,CRY,CRY I voted 50 times that night.... I would have voted all night if I would have known. This was the first year I liked someone from AI now I dont want to watch anymore!!! The enjoyments gone. Micheal put out a CD I'LL BUY!!! LOVE YA YOU SEXY SEXY SEXY MAN!!!

  8. reinharv Says:

I don't think Michael was going to last more than a couple more weeks because thought he had a good audition, he kind of struggled. He even said jokingly that he had to step up his game. There was no way he was going to win but he got good exposure. He will go on tour and get even more exposure. You can't compete with all the tweens voting for the Archuleta kid and of course their moms and grandmas because "he just so cute and cuddly--don't you just want to squeeze him...I wish I had him for a son/grandson..."blah blah blah. As boring as that kid is and even when he forgets the words to a song--he sails through. Michael did not get a strong enough base--he's 29 and most of the people voting are kids and to them he's old. Adults generally don't vote for 2 hours. Remember Melinda last season--the judges raved about her, but she was also 29 and didn't connect with all the tween voting for Jordin who if you recall was "only 16." LOL Then, votefortheworst voted like crazy for KLC because they thought she would get voted off and they wanted to up her numbers to bring down MJ. Michael should have stuck with "bluesy rock" because that's his style. Idol does not want a rock person to win and now there is only one. David Cook and Michael were my favorites and the only reason I watched, because I like both their style and David Cook and Michael were "buds." David Cook cried (he and Carly) when Michael was voted off--you can see it. David Cook has had some great performances and is so much better than Archuleta. Of course, everyone is predicting Archuleta will win so I wonder why even bother. My vote will go exclusively for David Cook now that Michael is gone.

For those of you who think "you don't want to win" you are really off. When they get to the top 24, they each sign contracts prior to beginning the show. Idol has the option of executing the contract. They look at how the fans react to the contestant, how the fans react during the Idol Tours to contestants, and then prior to the end of the Tour--they can pick up anyone of the final 10. The winner gets full-court support and lots of advertising. Last season, Blake Lewis seemed to be the crowd favorite during the Idol Tour, so he got picked up by Clive. He let Blake do whatever he wanted with his album (which turned out no so good). Jordin, being the winner of course got a contract too but she gets more special handling. Daughtry also got picked up even when he was voted off at #4.

I really don't think Ryan Seacrest did this on his own. I got to thinking about that and Ryan is never intentially cruel. I am pretty sure he was told to do it that way. If you look, you'll notice he has his hands firmly on Michael's shoulder and the camera catches him wispering to Michael and you can see Michael smiled at him. It's really quick, but I spotted it. I was really pissed at Ryan but he has to follow a script and I am convinced the producers wanted that big shocking moment. So like it or not they are all conditionally tied to a contract until after the tour. If they don't get any contract--they are on their own and it's pretty tough out there.

  9. Peggy Says:

Totally unfair. Something is wrong, Recount.
As for me, I no longer have interest in IDOL.

I thought for sure it would boil down to Michael,
David Cooke, and David the 17 year old....

Also since no one was booted last year, they should bring back Michael. I thought last week and this week the votes would be counted together like last year, so I didn't vote this time.
Bet lots of others didn't either, due to this misconception. Also a real cruel way to have him leave. IDOL sucks.

  10. MJ Says:

Michael Johns is sensational! Not only can he sing, but he is chrismatic as well. You feel the music with him. Idol SUCKS for what they did. Who knows if he actually had the lowest score??

  11. HD Says:

Michael Johns is the best performer that American Idol has, as well as, down to earth and charismatic. I no longer have faith in the results of American Idol. I definitely think they should bring Michael back.

I no longer have the interest in watching American Idol.

  12. talia Says:

michael johns should NEVER have been sent home. That is bullshit and everyone who listens to good musicwould know that!

  13. Jennifer Says:

I can not believe how hard everyone is on Christie Lee. She has a wonderful country voice. Michael was good looking but definately not the best singer.

  14. Connie Says:

My picks for the top four were... David Archuleta, Carly Smithson, Michael Johns and Sayesha Mercado... with David A. winning AI and Carly being the runner up... So while I think it's pretty early for Michael Johns to be voted off... many posters here are forgetting how early Jennifer Hudson was voted off... and look where she is now... an Oscar winner and Broadway star ! I had her pegged as a great singer from day 1 and was just as shocked as many of you are now when she was voted off so early... But it didn't hurt her career any... so stay positive about Michael as he'll be just fine w/out winning AI... In my opinion, he started not performing as well when he shifted to the "rocker" type songs... if you all will recall all 3 judges deemed that he was more a R&B/Blues and ballad singer which I agree with 100%... his voice is extremely beautiful in his mid to lower ranges and his falsetto is awesome ! But he is not or never will be a Rocker... and really needs to heed the judges as well as other mentors advice... I will not buy him if he only produces rock music cd's... but if he produces R&B/Blues songs and cd's than he's a sure winner for my money !

And I totally disagree with those of you who have said that David Archuleta is winning solely on his looks and teeny bopper status... David's voice is akin to Josh Groban's in his own individual genre... he has a purity, richness and fine subtle nuances and phrasing in his singing... and I feel that his voice is truly one-of-a-kind and that he will be around for the next 20 to 40 years... His talent is huge and the fact that he also plays the piano... is incredible ! Many of you need to listen more closely to this boy... he's a definite force to be reckoned with and also has great charisma !

I am predicting that David Archuleta is the next American Idol and will go on to platinum sales status in record time ! : )

  15. Sandy Indiana Says:

What where they thinking? How in the world could MJ have been voted off? And the way Ryan S played with him was totally uncalled for. I have lost respect for Ryan and AI for putting the candy in front of MJ and pulling it away.

  16. jannie Says:

this was totally unexpected, till now i still dont believe this.
michael johns is still one of the best& i wish him success.

  17. wanda benson Says:

WEll, I'm thru with AI and Ryan seacrest

  18. Bev - Canada Says:

I did not see Michael Johns elimination show. And why?? Beacause last year they received the week off because of the American Idol Gives Back episode and I did not even realize that the voting would count anyway. They were all given a reprieve last year because they worked the phones! How many other voters thought the same? By default, Johns should be invited back to compete again. He NEVER should have been voted off in the first place. He has been consistently wonderful from day ONE.

  19. Mariene-Brazil Says:

I can't believe that the singer with the best vocals was eliminated...He was the reason to watch A.I... I won't watch AI anymore.. Please come back Michael Johns...

  20. Amanda Jenson Says:

That was such bull crap, Michael Johns is at least 10 times better than most of the idols, i hope so bad that we can hear more of him, HE'S THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
