i think michael doesnt want to be connected with simon after the final - all the contestants have signed agreements that he can manage them and there has to be something that we dont know about .. maybe he lied about his age or has done something that he wants to keep private so he slips away quietly before the final ... paula was not surprised - they all knew about this before the show .. definitely more to this story

  2. Asho Says:

    BRING HIM BACK!!!

Ryan said last year 'how could we let anyone go on a charity night?!'

    its inconsistant.

  3. Susan (Huge Michael Johns fan!) Says:

I can't believe that A.I. and voters could be so wrong with this choice of elimination! I'm sure this was fixed and I will stop watching A.I. I hope Michael Johns makes it big because he is "The American Idol" Good-luck Michael and I'm waiting for your first album!! Love you!

  4. Kathryn Says:

Michael Johns was my favorite from the very beginning. I thought that he would be in the final three at least along with the two Davids. I actually cried when he got eliminated. It was outrageous! Boycott AI!!!!!

  5. Sarah Says:

The show must be rigged - there is no way he got the fewest votes. Our whole family will cease to watch Idol. Just go ahead and hand to David A. on a silver platter. Michael was clearly one of the top contestants - even without Idol, he will be a star.

  6. kim t Says:

The operative phrase for AI is "damage control." Ryan Seacrest hit an artery, and AI is bleeding out. Since the show's producers are so devoted to the "unprecedented" for suspense, shock, and drama, now is the time for the never-before bring-a-poorly (understatement) dismissed â€"very-talented-Idol-contestant-back. AI, punctuate the American Idol Gives Back campaign by giving back to Michael Johns and millions of fans, the real givers. Have Seacrest do the honors. America has a longer memory than you think. Setting things right would be directly in keeping with the splendid anthem "Shout to the Lord!"

  7. Paula Friedman Says:

Michael should not have been kicked off. He was the reason to watch A.I. No one has mentioned that Brook should be kicked off. I am so tired of her shaking, crying, looking sad and her boring Carol King songs. I certainly do not see an idol talent in her. So why then was Michael kicked off. If last year they did not kick off a contestant, why this year and why Michael.

  8. Maria Says:

Hey KimT...I really like your thinking. Do you think this is a possibility? Have you hear anything that might suggest this could be a possibility. I may watch the first five minutes on Tuesday when Seacreep introduces the judges because I want to see if he has anything to say about his behavior, but after that, I am done.

I have one other question - why would they even bring up last year's charity week and not voting anyone off if they knew they weren't going to give Mike a pass? Why even do it? The other contestants have said he's been a constant support to them, a sounding board (Papa Johns), he's been respectful to the judges, gracious to the fans...why do it to him? I just don't get it.

  9. soxfan1 Says:

This is like watching the MLB playoffs and having the best team knocked off after the first round. Why watch any more. I do like David Cook but the ones who annoy me the most and are still there are Jason Castro and David Archaletta. Jason whispers his songs and archaletta should be on the mickey mouse club. He just doesn't fit in in this competition. but at least he can sing! Castro plain stinks! Syesha has an amazing voice so i don't think it should have been her. i just read an article about how T&A won't get you through this competition but it seems to be working for Kristy Lee Cook! Which is strange because isn't she supposed to be super religious? This week I hope to see either Kristy lee or Jason castro voted off! They don't deserve to be there. Lastly, Seacrest is a Douchbag! BOYCOTT SEACREST! His radio show, his E! show even Idol! get your results and performances on line! He is a self loathing closet case, plain and simple he is a little bitch!

  10. ivee Says:

ARE U KIDDING ME!??! IT IS THE MOST SHOCKING ONE!!AT LEAST daughtry made otp 4/5 w/e it was..Michael made top 8!! and that's pretty mediocre..He is my favorite and I was so sure he was going to be top 4!

  11. Mark Says:

Brooke is gonna cry her way out to the number one. So forget about the talent!

  12. Carole Marie Koz Says:

Remember...treat others as you would like to be treated and Michael did just that and for Ryan Seacreepoop...go to grass little girl! Besides, teaching in a school, I have been in the music business since 12..30 years ago! Michael, remember all of us as YOU have made your "niche"...Carole M. Koz

  13. Alex Says:

Now Michael has chance to produce music on his own terms , so don't worry, he's got a chance to be bigger than AI has ever been, or ever will be!

  14. Susie Says:

What a rip. The first year I watch American idol,
(happened to hear him sing Bohemian Rhapsody
at Hollywood week and was blown away)So I become invested and appreciated his amazing
talent, even voting , only for him. You will never convince me he had the lowest votes. I guess its
all about the shock value and the almighty dollar.
Absolutely disgusted of their treatment of him on
elminiation night. Totally uncalled for. Done with
AI and send e mail to fox. Michael you are an
amazing talent and genuinely good guy. I can
tell music is your passion, may you receive all the
    success you deserve. Susie

  15. Margot Says:

Here's the truth about American Idol: It often makes no sense whatsoever. Viewers invest a whole season watching, donating money for their charity event and buying into the whole show and their pay back for that investment is a flawed voting system. I personally think it's rigged---always hoping to give big "shockers" so everyone will talk about it. They eliminate their best singers for the publicity. Why keep investing your time and interest in the show? What sort of payback is that?

Brooke is under talented. Archuleta has no resale value. David Cook is not consistent. He also appears to be a bit pompous and over confident. Michael John's did NOT deserve to go and yet nothing surprises me on Idol because the show doesn't---and never has---made sense. If you have a show where the best singers can be eliminated, it means there's a poor return on your investment.

I'm done watching for the season. There is really no one left on the show that interests me at all. And I'm not investing another minute of my time to a show that makes no sense.

  16. may Jackman Says:

I was so ANGRY that M.J. was eliminated!!! Ryan should be FIRED for what he did! American Idol is not a Singing Competition, just a popularity contest...I will not invest my time watching anymore if they don't change the ruling on Votes...the Judges should have 1/2 the votes ,the other half by the phone in's...it's time to change the format or No one will continue watching!!Ryan should apologize to M.J. !!!

  17. Missy Says:

Mabey we will wake up and find this was just a bad dream.

Who next, David Cook? The show will not be the same without him.

  18. Joanne Says:

I was as surprised as Micheal and Paula were that he was eliminated. I wasn't impressed with Ryan's manner in stating that they didn't eliminate anyone at this point in the show last year, but we're saying good-bye to Michael tonight was one of the tackiest things I've witnessed in television. I looked forward to watching the show each week, but now I think it would be similar to watching a train wreck. The voting should be balanced by the expert panel to make sure injustices like this don't happen. Michael's likely better off now regardless. I'll buy his records and I'm sure alot of people will. In my humble opinion, he's more talented and worth watching and listening to than any of the past idol winners, with the exception of just a few.

  19. Haley Says:

I seriously can't believe Michael Johns got voted off, there's no way. My mouth dropped to the floor when Ryan Seacrest announced it. I've been voting for him every week! I'll watch it Tuesday to see if they bring him back somehow, but after that I'm definitely done for this season! Because it's ridiculous, he was the most talented one out of them all! Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White, and Syesha Mercado all need to leave. They're nothing special at all, especially compared to Michael (: Soooo American Idol, bring him back to the show!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. G.R.R Says:

Well.. there is certainly no point watchng AI anymore with MJ gone. That was the most ridiculous elimination ever!!! Was there something really wrong with the voting system or what?! certainly he got more votes than kristy lee?? no??? anyway. Either he should be brought back.. or just get him a record deal already..i wud buy his album today! such a nice guy too apparently..sigh..been 4 days already im still not over it..

  21. G.R.R. Says:

Also.. after all their hard work with the idol gives back show..having had such a effing hectic week.. they SHOULD NOT HAVE eliminated anyone last weeek ! Ryan seacrest i hope you regret everyday the way u sent MJ home.So cold.

  22. CHERYL Says:

NO! NO! NO! WHY? WHY? WHY? CRY,CRY,CRY I voted 50 times that night.... I would have voted all night if I would have known. This was the first year I liked someone from AI now I dont want to watch anymore!!! The enjoyments gone. Micheal put out a CD I'LL BUY!!! LOVE YA YOU SEXY SEXY SEXY MAN!!!

  23. reinharv Says:

I don't think Michael was going to last more than a couple more weeks because thought he had a good audition, he kind of struggled. He even said jokingly that he had to step up his game. There was no way he was going to win but he got good exposure. He will go on tour and get even more exposure. You can't compete with all the tweens voting for the Archuleta kid and of course their moms and grandmas because "he just so cute and cuddly--don't you just want to squeeze him...I wish I had him for a son/grandson..."blah blah blah. As boring as that kid is and even when he forgets the words to a song--he sails through. Michael did not get a strong enough base--he's 29 and most of the people voting are kids and to them he's old. Adults generally don't vote for 2 hours. Remember Melinda last season--the judges raved about her, but she was also 29 and didn't connect with all the tween voting for Jordin who if you recall was "only 16." LOL Then, votefortheworst voted like crazy for KLC because they thought she would get voted off and they wanted to up her numbers to bring down MJ. Michael should have stuck with "bluesy rock" because that's his style. Idol does not want a rock person to win and now there is only one. David Cook and Michael were my favorites and the only reason I watched, because I like both their style and David Cook and Michael were "buds." David Cook cried (he and Carly) when Michael was voted off--you can see it. David Cook has had some great performances and is so much better than Archuleta. Of course, everyone is predicting Archuleta will win so I wonder why even bother. My vote will go exclusively for David Cook now that Michael is gone.

For those of you who think "you don't want to win" you are really off. When they get to the top 24, they each sign contracts prior to beginning the show. Idol has the option of executing the contract. They look at how the fans react to the contestant, how the fans react during the Idol Tours to contestants, and then prior to the end of the Tour--they can pick up anyone of the final 10. The winner gets full-court support and lots of advertising. Last season, Blake Lewis seemed to be the crowd favorite during the Idol Tour, so he got picked up by Clive. He let Blake do whatever he wanted with his album (which turned out no so good). Jordin, being the winner of course got a contract too but she gets more special handling. Daughtry also got picked up even when he was voted off at #4.

I really don't think Ryan Seacrest did this on his own. I got to thinking about that and Ryan is never intentially cruel. I am pretty sure he was told to do it that way. If you look, you'll notice he has his hands firmly on Michael's shoulder and the camera catches him wispering to Michael and you can see Michael smiled at him. It's really quick, but I spotted it. I was really pissed at Ryan but he has to follow a script and I am convinced the producers wanted that big shocking moment. So like it or not they are all conditionally tied to a contract until after the tour. If they don't get any contract--they are on their own and it's pretty tough out there.

  24. Peggy Says:

Totally unfair. Something is wrong, Recount.
As for me, I no longer have interest in IDOL.

I thought for sure it would boil down to Michael,
David Cooke, and David the 17 year old....

Also since no one was booted last year, they should bring back Michael. I thought last week and this week the votes would be counted together like last year, so I didn't vote this time.
Bet lots of others didn't either, due to this misconception. Also a real cruel way to have him leave. IDOL sucks.

  25. MJ Says:

Michael Johns is sensational! Not only can he sing, but he is chrismatic as well. You feel the music with him. Idol SUCKS for what they did. Who knows if he actually had the lowest score??
