Kristy Lee Cook was eliminated from American Idol this week. That's a fact every fan of the shows knows. But here are a few backstage and off-camera developments from Wednesday night's broadcast:
- Mariah Carey came out before the camera began rolling to test the microphone. She delighted those in attendance with a rendition of "Bye Bye," telling them: "No judging... Sorry, I don't have a sound-check â" I'm always late."
- Former finalist Elliot Yamin also performed, just a few weeks after his mother passed away. He sang the song "Free," with "We miss you, mom" written on his hand.
Kristy Lee Cook found out she was eliminated, but then sucked up the emotion and serenaded Simon Cowell with her farewell performance.
- Famous - and random - people in the crowd included: Taylor Dane, Kristy Swanson, David Hernandez and Justin Guarini.
- When David Archuleta found out he was safe, Ryan Seacest asked him to pick the group that he thought was not the bottom three. Simon, Randy and Paula could all be seen shouting and desperately pointing for him to choose Cook, Castro and Smithson's side. He sat in the middle instead.

You are the Gossips, why don't you publish who next week's mentor is on the Idol? Also, why doesn't the show tell us who will be the mentor the following week? They must have it all lined up at least a couple months in advance.
