Asiah Epperson, Josiah Leming: Sad Stories, Happy American Idol Results

The two American Idol contestants that stood out the most for us during last night's auditions in Atlanta each had a sad story to tell. But at least the evening ended well for Asiah Epperson and Josiah Leming...

Asiah Epperson: This novice of a singer belted out the Leann Rimes tune, "How Do I Live," in honor of her father. In one of the more sincere, tragic  back stories to ever accompany a contestant, Epperson's dad passed away in a car accident mere days before she tried out.

As you can see below, though, Asiah's voice carried her through to Hollywood. This was no pity vote. Once she exited with her golden ticket, Paula Abdul broke down in tears and had to leave briefly. Probably to mourn. Possibly to get more liquored up.

Josiah Leming: This 18-year free spirit lives out of his car. But don't call him homeless, Josiah insisted to the judges. He proceeded to impress them with his vocals, despite the fact that Leming appeared to sing with a British accent. Not what you'd expect from a Tennessee native.

Congratulations Asiah! You have a beautiful voice and I am sure that it will take you far. Anyone that can touch the heart of the bully (don't know that judge's name, but I've heard him before) has to be pretty special.
Your daddy will always be with you, I know this from experience. Best wishes always, Cheryl in Oregon

I tried so hard to find that song Josiah was singing on Idol the other night! I found it though! Its called "Grace Kelly" and its written by Mika about how much Simon Cowell sucks! Haha

He has the best voice and interpretation skills I've seen in several years. Looking forward to his first recording - if he isn't already started - Great performance. Lack of sleep and pressure caused him to fall short in Stand By Me. Regardless, he'll be a star.

im disappointed that josiah didnt made it to the top 24. Actually when i first saw him at his first audition i knew that he has great potentials, skills, looks and of course without a doubt he has the talents. I hope we will all see him again next season.

Asiah.... You are still a beautiful singer and sweet girl. Joplin is behind you. I was sorry to hear about your father. Remember to keep Christ in the middle of everything.

The singing with a British accent business was just Josiah emulating his favorite music artists... Well don't feel too bad about him, I think he is well on the road to super stardom despite being booted off AI, as this other article on Josiah Leming shows

Josiah is also a great inspiration!

If the news had more good news stories like this, it would be a better world.
