FIRE KELLY T. Keep integrity in the game of Golf. This is time to the Golf Channel to step up and have some backbone and integrity. Two week "vacation"...not appropriate. FIRE HER NOW! I will not wtch GC anymore if she is back. And my perspective on the game and its integrity will be altered as well.

There is so much that is so wrong with your post, but I will only comment on one thing. There is most certainly a white organization in this country and it has numerous offshoots. It is called the KKK. The fact that you don't see them is not because they do not exist, but rather because their activities tend towards shadows.
Gary Raines Says:

to Michael Prejean I see in your e-mail you called Kelly a "ho" so I take it you must be black. That statement goes to prove that the word lynch will still be around for awhile. When a black makes a mistake and you bring it to their attention, you're a racist. It's sad to read the newspapers or listen to the news and see how often this is happening in our society. If you're black, you can't say or do anything wrong but if you're white there are idiots like yourself waiting to pounce. You and Al Sharpton would make a good pair, they keep asking that idiot for advice on race issues and he conveniently forgets his past.
Jimmy Says:

Bottom line- that is a very racist comment. To her, and obviously many posters on here, it is benign. Which just goes to show how racist most parts of the south truly are.

Boy, certain people love to be victims don't they. They will never let go of their victim-hood; it's too powerful, and it makes for a constant excuse to fall back on. Of course, you have the all-powerful Victicrats like Sharpton and Jackson to make sure racism stays alive.

If you are a national sports announcer and cannot avoid using the word " lynch " in reference to the world's best black golfer, then you (the announcer), are in the wrong line of work. Period. A person in Tilghman's position must be held accountable for their statements while on the air and representing the network for whom they work. Tiger Woods did the right thing by down playing the insident (class act), but Tilghman should be terminated by the Golf Channel right now. It was a insensitive remark that must not go unpunished.

First of all, if i am correct Tiger is only half black, so I don't know if he appreciates being thrown into this ridiculous political podium about racism which actually fuels itself. Having said that, it was a knucklehead statement, but that is all. Kelly is a supreme analyst and a professional and she knew she made a mistake and quickly apologized. If anyone else has a problem with it, get over yourself. Tiger is not concerned with this and neither should anybody else. Stephen A. Smith also made a big deal out of this, probably just for the news, but this should not be anything big at all.

You have to read racism into Tilghman's intentions, because her comment was innocent enough. The only reason we're having this discussion, which is a sad one, is because of the ultra-sensitive idiots out there who have made the word "lynching" taboo when applied to blacks.
Yes, blacks were lynched. When you remind people of that by saying that some black man should be lynched, even in a non-racist way (which is possible!), then some uncomfortable feelings will surface. But it's not racist to say that some black man should be lynched. It could be your intent to cause these uncomfortable feelings, or it could be your racism expressing itself, but it needn't be either of these. It's not like using the N-word, which we rightly deem a racist term. "Lynching," on the other hand, is not a racist term, so Tilghman shouldn't have to defend herself against accusations of racism or insensitivity.
The reason why Tiger had to address this nonsense is because others are so eager to make something out of this that it obviously isn't. Jim Brown is a perfect example. Tiger believes Tilghman's comment to be innocent enough, but Brown takes upon himself to criticize both Tilghman and Tiger -- why? Because it's serving his idealogical cause. Nothing more. He's not concerned with truth or the character of the two people he's attacking.

I've read all previous posts. Some are good, some weak and others are just plain comical(see Emilio January 26th). One thing is certain though, the topic of race evokes powerful emotions.
For the record, I'm white. So I wont pretend for a second that I know how Mrs Tilghman's comment may affect someone who is black. I do wonder if the reaction would be the same if her name was Kelly Lopez? Would it be less severe if she was of Mexican or South American descent? Perhaps someone else can provide insight.
Either way, this has left me with a question. Where is the forgiveness? I don't recall hearing about any other racial controversy involving Mrs Tilghman. In fact, any time I've seen her on TV, she expresses nothing but admiration and appreciation for Tiger Woods and his abilities. In the Golf channel year in review show, she said the one image that stands out for her the most was the picture of Tiger Woods holding his new born baby. Would that be the lasting image of a racist?
I agree, her choice of words was beyond inappropriate, and fully appreciate that some of you found it to be quite offensive. It'd be one thing if she had a history of these types of comments, but she doesn't. Yes, she's an educated woman, but even educated people say regrettable things. In my opinion, she mis-spoke, and unfortunately for her, she did so in the most sensitive of areas on national television. This will stick with her for a long time, and she will have to deal with those consequences.
If everyone out there that is calling for head has never made one racial comment, told or laughed at one off-color joke, then by all means keep talking. But unless your reputation is spotless, give the woman the benefit of the doubt and try to forgive.
