A Bogus Account of the Britney Spears Meltdown

This is bad celebrity gossip.

There's no other way to put this: A story by The News of the World (U.K.) gives the entire Hollywood gossip industry a bad name.

But it's a hilarious read.

When Britney went bonkers last Thursday night and early Friday morning, theories were flying far and wide as to what went down at her place.

Locking herself in a room with a craying Jayden James? Having Alli Sims break down the door and get her out. Who the heck knows what really happened!? We don't. Neither does the News of the World, and yet they write a remarkably detailed "account" of what supposedly transpired. Excerpts below:

• Britney took nearly 100 pills in 36 hours leading up to her meltdown. She took 2 bottles of Nyquil, 20 Clenbuterols, 18 herbal uppers, 18 Piriton antihistamines, 12 Vicodins, 10 sleeping pills, 8 antacid pills, 1 bottle of Pepto Bismol, 10 Zantacs, 6 Ritalins and of 2 full bottles of Oxycontin.

• Kevin Federline was afraid Britney would shoot both their sons dead - with a gun he gave her - a Beretta 92FS Brit keeps by her bed. Britney begged Kevin over the phone to let her keep the boys and offered him $100 million.

• When one of Kevin's bodyguards tried to take the boys from her, she bit him in the leg. Britney called Jamie Lynn Spears and told her she wasn't going to be the only Spears on the cover of a magazine next week. Britney then proceeded to bash her head into the wall in a fit of rage.
