Let me begin by saying this is not about Michael Vick although I believe the sentence he received was rathr harsh. Thirs is about the attire Michael Vick word at his sentencing, December 10, 2007. He was dessed in an outfit similar to that worn by individuals who worked on chain gangs. If my grandparents were alive and witnessed his attire as it flashed across TV screens in headlines they would have been somewhat alarmed and saddened. His attire would be a reminder of the abuses some of their friends and family members experinced while workfing on chain gangs. As a child I often quietly listened as my grandparent, neighbors and family members discussed individuals who worked on chain gangs and the abuses they often suffered.
A chain gang was a group of prisoners chained together to perform physiclly challenging labor such as chopping stones along a highway. Single ankle shackles with short lengths of chains were attached to lengths of chains knows as leg irons. So

To Michael Vick - I admire the way that you have conducted yourself during this ordeal. Clearly you did wrong, and clearly you know that now. This dark moment will pass for you. If you make the effort, you can emerge a better man from these troubles. I believe that you will. Good luck brother.

What's sad is a hockey players kills his best friend in a car accident in Atlanta and gets off with a slap on the wrist. A football player gambles in the privacy of his own home and get slapped in the pocket, face, and anywhere else haters can think of. More white men hunt animals and kill them, my bad, they suppose to do it during "hunting season" and then it's ok. Whatever!!!! Focus on some real news and leave Vick the hell alone.

its really sad for the black community tht so many blacks have stood up for michael vick like they have. There are so many intelligent black people out there but the media won't show them because what's going to get more press; Blacks being ignorant and supporting Michael Vick? Or blacks saying damning things towards him? New York Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury even stated that he was under the assumption that dog fighting was a sport. It seems like you can take the brother out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the brother.
