You can’t blame Ian Ziering for wanting to make some celebrity gossip headlines right now.

Just look at his former Beverly Hills, 90210 co-stars:

  • Jason Priestly just welcomed a child into his family.
  • Tori Spelling sucks, but is at least in the news a lot.
  • And, well, Brian Austin Green, has seen Megan Fox nude.

So it makes sense that Ziering really wanted the job of hosting The Price is Right. How else could he compete with those former cast mates?

“I guess I was a little disappointed,” Ziering told People magazine at Tuesday’s The Simpsons Movie premiere in Westwood, Calif. “I was really kind of hoping that would happen.

On Monday, though, unfunny comedian Drew Carey was named new host of the long-running game show, now that its iconic emcee, Bob Barker, has retired. (Among those also under consideration, besides Carey and Ziering, were Rosie O’Donnell, Mark Steines and Mario Lopez.)

“Unfortunately, it didn’t go my way,” said Ziering. “But they got a great host in Drew Carey. I’ve always been a big fan of his. I think he’s going to do great.”

That’s funny, Ian. No one is actually a big fan of Drew Carey. That’s like saying you think Lindsay Lohan is a role model for today’s youth.

“I’m in a great space right now,” Ziering reassured his followers. “I feel good. Everything is going in the right direction. … That’s one thing about this business, that there are so many mediums to perform in. I’m not really too bummed, because something else usually turns up.”

That’s true. Ian could always follows in the porn-like footsteps of David Hans Schmidt and distribute the Kate Moss sex tape. Just an idea.
