Paris Hilton has a lot of time on her hands these days.

Because she can't fill it like she would outside of prison - having lots of sex with Stavros Niarchos - the locked up heiress has been responding to fan mail.

One of these letters was obtained by E! Online, a fact we're sure Paris and her PR team didn't plan or anything. It reads:

"I read your letter and just wanted to thank you for your kind words of love and support. The fact that you took time out of your day to write me truly means the world. Especially at such a difficult and scary time in my life.

"But I am being strong and trying to make the best out of the situation. And the letters I'm receiving really do put a smile on my face as I sit here in my cell, sad and alone."

Sniff. Sniff. Sorry, it's hard for The Hollywood Gossip staff to focus now with so much sympathy building up for poor Paris. We were already emotional this morning from new of Suri Cruise's first steps.

In other fan-related news, Hunter Cross is speaking up. He's the Abercrombie & Fitch model that co-starred with Hilton and Nicole Richie on this season of The Simple Life.
