Rosie O'Donnell: Spells Like Teenage Girl, Possibly Done with The View
Rosie O'Donnell should let the door hit her on the way out. And we hope it hurts.
The outspoken, pompous commentator first riled out celebrity gossip-loving feathers when she got into a tiff months ago with the adorable Kelly Ripa. Since then, Rosie has mocked Asians and blamed America for the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
Earlier this week, meanwhile, O'Donnell reportedly acted like a kindergarten child after an argument on The View.
After a heated discussed with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie allegedly trashed her dressing room in anger. Moreover, her chief writer, Janette Barber, was escorted from ABC studios after she was caught drawing moustaches on photos of Elisabeth hanging around the building.
To paraphrase Meredith Grey: Seriously? Seriously, Rosie?!?
Indeed, ABC confirmed that "photographs at 'The View's" offices were defaced," though it adds that the world's most offensive lesbian wasn't around when it happened.
As for the dressing room meltdown, ABC denies it. But O'Donnell continues to be cryptic about whether she's coming back next week, with her latest blog posting saying, "There is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done."
There's also a point where YOU need to spell like a grown-up, Rosie. That said, we agree that it's time for you to go. You'd made the canvas at The View uglier than Seth Rogen.

i think what rosie did was very heroic. It takes guts to tell the truth on national television. Journalists from all over the world tell a different story than what the American people get from their media sources. it's really fascinating to live in a diff country than the USA and have access to all neutral information sources. the pic that rosie portrays (albeit not conveyed in the appropriate form) is the most accurate. It's unfortunate that there is so much reluctance in the USA to accept it.

Rosie cannot handle a reasoned discussion. While this may be the case for many on both sides of the fence, she elevates it to the point of insanity. Apparently, like many these days, she believes that the loudest and last argument means that it was the best argument. She threw out the question that does lead a reasonable person to infer that she believes we are acting as nothing but terrorists in the case of Iraq.
Case in point. Rosie's citing of the 650K figure from a recent study tells me that she looked no further into the study than the post-invasion number. Rosie's insinuation is that the US is responsible for all of these deaths and that all of the victims were innocents.
What are a few things that Rosie fails to mention?
* The estimated death count range of the report is between 400K and 900K.
* The researchers did not qualify whether or not the death count was for an innocent, an insurgent, a fighter, a criminal, etc. It was not only for innocent men, women, and children.
* The total percentage of violent deaths attributed to coalition (includes the full coalition…not just the US) action was 31%. Not 100% as Rosie insinuates.
* 50K deaths are reported to have occurred without violence or due to normal accidents.
These are just a few of the things Rosie doesn't mention. She married herself to the 650K number and ran with it. She truly does need to stand on her own statements. It's not Elisabeth's responsibility to explain Rosie's comments.
Based on how she responds to disagreement, opposing Rosie is equivalent to being a close-minded religious nut…being bigoted…being unintelligent…you name it. For some reason, there are people in the world who believe that "being true to yourself" or "standing up for what you believe" is the same as being a well-informed participant in the discussion. This is not true.
Rosie is proof.

The following was posted on Rosie's blog a while ago, but has already been removed:
Please pull the plug on this and leave TV now - there is nothing to gain by staying but plenty to lose, particularly if you piss off veterans on Memorial day
monday is my last show
it was pre taped
Am I being stupid or are you saying you are not going back to The View for the last few weeks? If I were you I wouldn't either but what about your contract?
abc has been very understanding
Looks like she's gone.

Starfan, you say Rosie is wrong in her numbers of 650K. Okay, fair enough, let's look at the numbers you posted. 400K to 900K killed x 31% coalition = 124K to 279K. Considering the US make up about 90% of the coalition forces let's make it 110K to 250K for the Americans. Then let's look at the fact that Shias and Sunnis wouldn't be in the midst of a civil war if America hadn't opened the door for this to happen. How many died because of that - look what we're back to - approx 650K Iraqis. You really think your numbers make Rosie look stupid?

Rosie, if you made the comment that our troops are mercenaries, YOU DEFEND IT. Stop being a COWARD, stop calling others COWARDS, and DEFEND IT YOUR OWN D*** SELF!!!
My husband is retired Army military intelligence who served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield IN THE DESERT, COMMANDING TROOPS, AVOIDING BOMBS, my daughter and son-in-law are deployable in the Army, and I have two nephews in the Marines. How would you like it if the children you love so much were serving and someone accused them of simply VOLUNTEERING to MURDER people for a monthly check??
If you're going to make the call, present the facts when someone asks for them or SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!! I know you have facts because you love to throw them around, accurate or not. Why'd you stop now? Huh? Elisabeth did nothing but do what everyone else has tried to make you do for along time...make you responsible for your own statements and you got mad at her for it. She didn't defend you because she shouldn't have had to!! She didn't make the comment; she didn't know what was in your head and she was waiting for you to explain yourself just like the rest of us. You just got angry and thought you could dump the blame on her. SURPRISE!! She didn't let you walk on her.
Tell me, DO YOU MEAN FOR THE WORDS TO COME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH THAT WAY, OR DO THEY JUST SPILL OUT IN THAT IDIOTIC ORDER??!!!!
Joanna Haynes
Damn proud to be married to, mom of and aunt to service men and women because they're there GIVING their lives...YES, MY HUSBAND HAS COLLEAGUES WHO'VE BEEN BROUGHT HOME IN BODY BAGS YOU UNGRATEFUL B****, so you can spout off!!!!!!

loveslife: "Then let's look at the fact that Shias and Sunnis wouldn't be in the midst of a civil war if America hadn't opened the door for this to happen."
That's an interesting perspective. Perhaps we could have continued to let Saddam "repress" the uprisings of his dissenters. I wonder what his death count would look like by now had we stayed out of his way. Furthermore, we could probably make a case that there would not have been as many Jews killed by the Nazis if everyone would have just let Hitler do his thing. The desparate push made near the end of his reign might not have happened at all by your logic.
Your reasoning is that of a simpleton. The conflict is unpredictable by its very nature. You conveniently leave out the context of a Saddam-led Iraq and the Middle East. It's not a peace loving as one would think by reading your comments as if the Shias and Sunnis somehow just decided to start engaging one another.
loveslife: "How many died because of that - look what we're back to - approx 650K Iraqis. You really think your numbers make Rosie look stupid?"
Back to the numbers. I'm not sure that I'm ready to hang my hat on numbers generated by a group who also published a 2004 report with a range of 9000 to 194000. This range was for the death toll 18 months post-invasion. It's not a report that has been verified in any sense of the word and it's numbers are far greater than any other publicly available report.
That still seems pretty stupid to me. For one, it makes her look like she does absolutely no research. Secondly, it only makes her look less intelligent by ASSERTING the numbers in justification for her idiotic statement. And finally, it is a simpleton's argument to say that we are the cause of the number because we went in to Iraq in the first place.
Do yourself a little history favor and go back through the claims and public statements made by politicians on both sides of the fence and your Monday-morning quarterback intelligence should dissipate if you are intellectually honest with yourself.

Army Pfc. Johnathon Millican of Trafford, Ala., wrote on his MySpace page before he was killed in Karbala, Iraq: "You don't have to love the war but you have to love the warrior."

SERIOUSLY, I THINK ROSIE IS A PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIC. SHE SHOWS ALL THE SIGNS.
May 25th, 2007 4:55 PM
Thank god for Rosie!!! Finally an american that speaks the truth. It's about time you americans need to wake up seriously you voted Bush in for the second time??? I totally respect Rosie she is the only one speaking the truth. And you wonder why the rest of the world is beginning to hate the US and for good reason. IF there were more people like Rosie in the US maybe things would be different, like not having to buy Canadian flags and stickers and Tshirts etc. for when they travel so they get treated with respect because Americans sure aren't and I wonder why. Rosie speaks the truth and then gets slammed for giving the facts. WAKE UP AMERICA
May 25th, 2007 5:02 PM
Linda: "Finally an american that speaks the truth. It's about time you americans need to wake up seriously you voted Bush in for the second time???"
You truly are an uninformed idiot if you belief that Rosie deals in truth. The woman is a highly medicated victim of depression, and probably schizophrenia. If Americans are hated because of Bush then the rest of the world (only those of your intellect) is truly made up of morons who cannot disassociate a people from their government.
Linda: "I totally respect Rosie she is the only one speaking the truth."
Another moron who gives more respect to someone for being an obnoxious loudmouth who "speaks her mind" than to those with verifiable credibility.
Linda: "IF there were more people like Rosie in the US maybe things would be different,.."
Well, that's for sure. We would all get blogs and type like little teenage girls talking to our BFFs instead of actually putting together some coherant sentences that actually explain a position.
Wherever you are, I doubt most Americans would mind if you stay there.
May 25th, 2007 5:03 PM
Ok i really need to make this comment just because it looks like ppl arent realizing this atol.
we are all getting worked up over things a fat, ignorant, loudmouthed, ugly, dyke has to say and a fight she had with a ditsy blonde that cant chew gum and walk at the same time let alone make an educated comment on anything that doesnt envolve shopping or blowjobs.
Now i am not an American im Canadian but do i support the troops that are over there risking there live yer damn right i do. as for the other crap being said by bush or as i like to call him elmer fudd, about the reasons that these troops are over there getting shot at every day lets be realistic here. Bush doesnt now nor has he ever cared one bit about the troops. the sole reason that he wont pull the troops out now or any time soon is that it makes him more money to keep them there. The next president will obviously be a bit more intellegent then the present one which will mean all they have to be is concious. but no matter who it is the only thing that they will do is more of the same. Screw the ppl that work hard everyday to support there families.
i know i rambled on a bit but hey i just had some time to kill and this was fun to get out. now let me hear it from all u ppl out there who want to disagree with me.
May 25th, 2007 5:33 PM
Anyone who has the guts to come out on national television and oppose the powers that be and the many false tales they tell earns my respect!
Bless Rosie. She actually understands that she is entitled to Free Speech under the Constitution and she exercises it regularly.
I'm ashamed of how stupid our country is becoming. Now that we're going bankrupt over the Lie in Iraq, we're right on track to become a 3rd world country... not to mention fascism closing in...
***Six more U.S. troops killed today!*** Anyone who supports the illegal occupation does NOT support the troops.
Send Hasselbeck & her hubby over to enlist! She's young enough to do her duty and get behind the holy "war."
May 25th, 2007 6:04 PM
1. Rosie has always supported the troops; she does not support the war. There is a difference.
2. A lot of the people seem to want to comment on here using derogatory terms for both O'Donnell and Hasselbeck. I see a lot of homophobic and misogynistic posts, which saddens me. Does it affect the matter if someone is gay or straight, or fat, or thin? Because Hasselbeck is blonde, does that mean she can't "walk and chew gum at the same time"? Please try more reasoned arguments in your criticisms, rather than epithets meant only to demean. Thank you.
May 25th, 2007 7:42 PM
I have no idea why there are so many personal attacks thrown at someone who simply tells the truth.
How in the hell did the U.S. become such an international laughing stock? Could it be because of the Bush administration's continued failures and those ever-loving loyal supporters who will never acknowledge it?
Rosie was the best thing on the View and now that she is gone, the ratings will be in the cellar.
Thank you Rosie. It was good while it lasted.
May 25th, 2007 8:30 PM
Well Starfan21 Do a survey around the world and you will find that most of the world agree's with me, unlike you I will speak the truth and stand up for people who do. Why are there so many websites to buy Canadian hats, Tshirts etc. and I have personally met several americans that wear Canadian hats etc. so they get treated with respect and admit that when they do wear our stuff they do get treated much better!! It is because of people like YOU!!! Doesn't take a brain surgeon to see what your STUPID president has done for your country. As Rosie and Joy said on the view Americans are being hated on by most countries because of the war and your STUPID president. And by the way do the research and you will find they are facts!! So just go ahead and live in your own little world where if people speak up and tell the truth they get slammed. I will say it again THANK GOD FOR ROSIE and shame on all of you for trashing her because of her weight and sexual preference. I have total respect for your troops but no respect for your corrupt president and ignorant people like you Starfan21.
May 25th, 2007 9:29 PM
Linda, I agree with you. I am American and my mother has traveled overseas and she went as a Canadian. She said the Americans get no respect whatsoever. I don't care why Rosie blew up; it was just refreshing as hell to see someone open their mouths up on National TV about this war or anything to do with this government.
May 25th, 2007 10:00 PM
Rosie will alway been in my favor for not being afraid to speak the truth. I have no need to watch The View, I am afraid I will find it too boring. Thank you Rosie
May 25th, 2007 11:28 PM
As a 50+ straight Texas woman I don't have much in common with Rosie, but I support her 100%. She's dead right about Bush/Cheney, she's informed on many issues the govt has lied about, and that little Republican puppet girl on the View interrupts everyone who doesn't agree with her--which means both Rosie and Joy--constantly. She is the dimmest bulb in the box and I actually watch the show, unlike most people making their uninformed comments here. Rosie was right in calling that little twit a coward. She should have said stupid coward, spewing Bush and Fox News propaganda and interrupting anyone who doesn't agree with her uninformed opinions. FoxNews did exactly what Rosie alleged every time she spoke. They--Shemp Hannity and Pill O'Reilly--called her names and twisted anything she said. Barbara is losing the best part of her show and I doubt anyone can replace her with that blonde twit on the panel.
My very best to Rosie in her next endeavor. She has my wholehearted support and I am sure she will do very well in whatever she tries next. I just hope she doesn't disappear.
May 26th, 2007 2:12 PM
As a forty something hetero woman, I don't really have much in common with Rosie, but I don't understand the hostility of so many towards her. She is just someone that is expressing her views (hence the title of the show) on various topics. Whenever she says how she feels about something, it makes the news. Everyday, we have many people in the media expressing their thoughts and opinions on topics and it doesn't get nearly as much press. Why are so many people so upset about her? I think it's because she's an outspoked gay woman. When a man is loud and opinionated it doesn't seem to bother people.
Also, obviously people are going to disagree with her opinions. But why can't they disagree without attacking her looks and her sexual orientation? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Am I being censored?
June 4th, 2007 3:21 PM
Ok, let's get a reality check people. First, Americans have been hated for a long time before the war started. It has to do with our feelings of entitlement when we go to other countries. Also, as a sister of a serviceman who was wounded, I have a problem with anyone who spouts the uneducated theory that Shiites and Sunnis were living in peace prior to the invasion. Must I remind you people of the Iran-Iraq war? What was the cause? Oh that's right, Iranians are a majority Sunni country and the government of Iraq while stating that they were a secular regime was run my the minority Shiite Muslims who persecuted not only Sunnis but Kurds as well. This country is made up of 3 separate Islamic groups, 5 ethnic groups and 1 christian group. They have been a hotbed of civil warfare since the 70's and by the way, they would have had a civil war regardless. Just as Iran had theirs, and Saudi Arabia, and Israel. Now just so you know Americans are usually treated badly in other countries because we don't speak their language and we expect to be treated better than other people. We just gave the world an excuse to hate us more by invading Iraq.
June 15th, 2007 1:37 PM
Clearly, I was being censored. What a waste of space if posters are only going to get half of the facts.
kay...I'm glad you filled us in on the civil unrest that has been present in the Middle East for quite some time. Many people like to say the US is the primary cause of it.
I'm not so sure that your reasons why others hate the US are comprehensive. The UN and every other country in the world loves it when we shell out $$$ for their best interests, but when it comes to making decisions based on OUR OWN COUNTRY'S best interest...forget about it!
