Felicity Huffman is a talented actress. But even talented actresses can be wrong sometimes.

The Desperate Housewives star thinks Lindsay Lohan's performance in Georgia Rule is so strong that the public will forget that the young star got chewed out for acting up during production.

"Once people see the movie," Huffman tells Parade magazine in its upcoming issue, "God willing, the performances will eclipse any [celebrity gossip]."

In the movie, which opens May 11, Huffman and Lohan portray the stormy side of mother-daughter relations. As described by Huffman" "This character was so abrasive to play that I didn't have the wherewithal to step back and think of it as about me being a mother. I just kept thinking of it as my relationship with Lindsay Lohan."

Perhaps, in that case, she sought advice from Stavros Niarchos, Brody Jenner, Harry Morton, Joe Francis and James Blunt. Among thousands of others.

"To me, Lindsay was a complete and utter delight. The minute I met her I just loved her," Huffman continued. "She meets you with an open heart and wide-open eyes and gets right in there. She cares about the work. She throws herself in, 100 percent."

Sort of like her commitment to alcohol.

"I just adored her. She's fantastic in the movie. It doesn't get any better than what she did. Brilliant."

Huffman's praise, however, contrasts with last summer's stern remarks about Lohan in a letter from James G. Robinson, CEO of Morgan Creek Productions. Robinson threatened legal action against Lohan and called her absences from the Georgia Rule set "irresponsible and unprofessional."

Meanwhile, Huffman's real-life husband, veteran character actor William H. Macy, said last year that he respects Lohan's talent â€" but not her behavior.

"You can't show up late," Macy said. "It's very, very disrespectful." Asked about Lohan's work on Bobby, in which they both costarred, Macy paused and said, "She was pretty late."

David Hasselhoff asked to be videotaped while intoxicated so he could see what he's like when he's drunk, according to Extra.

The show obtained footage of Hasselhoff, 54, sitting shirtless on the floor of a Las Vegas hotel room (see below). Off-camera, Extra says, a family member pleads with him to stop drinking and says:

"The doctor is coming over here in the morning to check your alcohol level. If you have any alcohol in your system, you are going to be fired from [The Producers]."

Hasselhoff's lawyers said he requested that the video be taken. Pamela Anderson's former Baywatch co-star tells People in a statement that he needed to see himself at his worst:

"I am a recovering alcoholic."

"Despite [the fact] that I have been going through a painful divorce and have recently been separated from my children due to my work, I have been successfully dealing with my issues. Unfortunately, one evening I did have a brief relapse, but part of recovery is relapse."

"Because of my honest and positive relationship with my daughters, who were concerned for my well being, there was a tape made that night to show me what I was like. I have seen the tape. I have learned from it and I am back on my game. I thank God for the love and concern from my daughters. The tape was never meant to become public, but appears to have been obtained and released by my ex-wife. I hope that someone else will learn from the tape, as I have."

A rep for Debra Opri, the lawyer representing Hasselhoff's ex-wife, Pamela Bach, said in a statement Thursday:

"Pamela Bach and her attorney Debra Opri were not the ones who disseminated the tape [to the media]. Both Pamela and her attorney have not seen the tape, and Pam has no desire to."

In the video, Extra reports, Hasselhoff is asked why he continues to imbibe harder than Tara Conner, and he says: "Cause I'm lonely. I have trouble in my life." The family member responds, "You have me." Hasselhoff replies:

"I don't have you in my life. Bulls----. I don't have you." Says the family member: "You are throwing your life away. It is stupid."

Hasselhoff filed for divorce from Bach in January 2006:

Bach filed her own divorce paperwork the following day, which included claims of domestic violence. The two have been locked in an acrimonious battle over finances and custody of their two daughters, Taylor-Ann, 16, and Hayley, 13, one of whom reportedly attempted suicide in September.

In an episode of Access Hollywood airing Thursday, Bach, 44, tells the show that she doesn't trust the troubled star with their daughters, saying: "I don't trust that he can hold his disease at bay to not take that drink."

Someone ought to film Britney Spears the next time she gets faded.

David Hasselhoff, for his part, said to Access Hollywood:

"I have respect of my children and my fans, but most importantly my self respect. I will continue to keep my personal life private for the sake of moving on and living a happy life with my daughters."

A rep for Hasselhoff, who's been letting himself go for the better part of a year, did not immediately return calls for comment; his attorneys had no comment.

It was an awkward moment on American Idol this week: two best friends. One goes home. One continues to pursue his dream.

How did you and Blake Lewis become close?
It started during Hollywood week. We had a lot in common: music taste and style, loyalty of friendship and common interests.

How did you feel about the producers pitching you against Blake since they know you two are such good friends?
They have to make a good show. They are smart producers. They know what will get people interested and get people watching.

What were you saying to each other up there?
I was just telling him to go ahead and sit down because I knew I was going home.

What was going on in your head?
Me and Phil came to peace with it and we figured out we were going home... I knew. I think you should go out there hoping for the best. I think everyone knows Blake is my best friend, I was glad he was staying in my place [along with other finalists such as Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks].

You are definitely charming. Are you single?
I just got out of a three-year relationship. That's about it. All the other things [i.e. Lauren Conrad shagging] are just rumors. Other than that I am pretty much right now single but still respecting the fact that I just got out of a relationship.

Are we ever going to see the Blake and Chris variety show?
You will all just have to see!

As rumors fly about the state of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's six-month-old marriage, friends of the pair are stepping forward to defend them.

Previously, we heard from Jenna Elfman. Now, Jada Pinkett Smith, who, with husband Will Smith, is a longtime friend of the couple, tells People what life is really like in the Cruise-Holmes household:

I met [Katie Holmes] through Tom. I didn't know her before Tom. I think everybody has this image: Poor little Kate, she doesn't have the strength to take care of herself. People don't know that behind all that grace is a tiger. I've witnessed it! I've had conversations with Kate personally where the tigress comes out of her, that fight.

There was one incident when I turned to Will â€" we were in their dining room, just the four of us, we were sitting and talking â€" Kate made a comment, and that was the moment I was like, "You know what? I can ride with her." She made it very clear she wasn't standing for people messing with her family. She is extremely protective. But at the same time she's so graceful.

I can see how people wouldn't see this, but when you look at Kate now [compared to] when she first met Tom Cruise, she's more confident and more knowing who she is than ever before. You can see it in her pictures.

She looks more beautiful and more confident and more assured. I've watched that metamorphosis â€" how Kate has blossomed into this woman. Because her life changed very quickly, she moved from one person into another.

On reports that Holmes is a prisoner without bars:

It burns my soul â€" I see her in the house with Tom; he doesn't have that on her! It kills me. 'Tom's this monster and she's living a tortured life, he's got her chained up in the basement and he's forcing Scientology down her throat' â€" it's bulls---. Let me tell you: Kate ain't no little wimpy kitty cat. It's not that ballgame. For real.

I see how protective she is over her family and her husband. She very much carries the idea that people better not [mess] with my family. She gets fired up. When she gets to that mode, it makes me step back. I was like, 'Okay!' And Tom looks at me and goes, 'See? See? Did you see that?' And I go, "Yeah, I saw that â€" hell yeah.' It amazes me.

She's got a quiet thunder. When she walks into a room, or you see her in a magazine â€" it's a thunder that people are attracted to.

It's quiet and it's very subtle, but it's extremely powerful. What's great about Kate is that she doesn't wear who she is on her sleeve, and that makes people so interested in her. That in itself is quite a power, and she knows it.

Kate is smart, let me just put it like that.

People think Tom and the Church of Scientology got something on Kate? They don't. Kate is running her own show. And she's a great mother.

Her kids â€" Connor and Isabella and Suri â€" are some dynamic children and are extremely happy. And her husband is very, very happy.

The Australian pop singer has been released from hospital after receiving treatment for viral meningitis.

The artist was being treated for the brain bug at the East Surrey Hospital in the native nation of Kate Middleton, England.

A spokesman said: "He now needs to be left alone with his family to recover."

No problem. We'll abide by that request by ignoring Andre and posting an alluring picture of his wife instead. Here's your Katie Price photo for the day:

We're so happy for a pregnant Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

We're even happier, though, that a nude Debbie Matenopoulos - the woman that originally occupied the fourth seat on The View that Hasselbeck now enjoys - may be posing in Playboy.

A TMZ spy says Matenopoulos was "thick as thieves" with the soon-to-be-naked-for-the-world-to-see lawyer Kristine Lefebvre at the GBK Gifting lounge at the Stoli Hotel in Hollywood last night.

The two blondes weren't just talking about nude photos in general, either (but have you seen the new ones of Britney Spears topless?!?). The discussion reportedly turned to what the former Apprentice contestant might be able to broker for Matenopoulos.

Lefebvre, a power attorney, has negotiated celebrity Playboy deals for the likes of Pamela Anderson and Deborah Gibson, and her own titular deal is said to be "potentially very lucrative."

We'll keep you abreast of this situation as it develops. Seeing Matenopoulos bare it all might not be as enticing as Antonella Barba nude, but this much is true:

They possibility is far more exciting that David Beckham nude photos.

The Gossip just finished watching wacky video clip, obtained by celebrity gossip sleuths TMZ, from this season's VH1 "Celebrity Fit Club."

Just like the last time we talked about "Celebrity Fit Club," the subject is Dustin Diamond, a.k.a. Screech Powers, going absolutely nuts.

In January, Diamond proclaimed to fellow "Fit Club" contestant and American Idol castoff Kimberley Locke that he would "make a dildo of my c**k and f**k" her with it. Classy.

Time time, the Dirty Sanchez distributor goes absolutely crazy and drops a vicious rant against fellow D-list celebrity contestants.

Dustin Diamond spews slurs toward his fellow dieters, calling them "retarded" and "morons," then threatens each of them by saying, "I would like to slap the spit out of their mouths!"

He then singles out Locke once again, telling her she's a "big girl" and will always be.

That may be, but at least Locke didn't make a homemade porno with two low-rent sluts, then lie about it getting out accidentally (as celebrity image broker David Hans Schmidt, who bought and sold the Dustin Diamond sex tape, later called DD on).

Nor did Locke lie about her house being foreclosed upon. What an a$$hole.

Eddie Murphy might know a lot about comedy.

But he could learn a thing or two dozen about being a father from Larry Birkhead.

Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown, who gave birth to her daughter Angel Iris a month ago today, claims that not only does Murphy know that he's the dad of her baby, but the pregnancy was planned!

Last December, Murphy had the nerve to publicly deny that he fathered the child, telling a Dutch television station Brown had something in common with Anna Nicole Smith: "We don't know whose child it is until it comes out and has a blood test."

Now, Brown tells Extra that Murphy is refusing to take a paternity test.

"The crazy thing is, this baby was planned, and he knows it's his," Brown said. "This is what is mind-boggling."

"Be responsible. It's as simple as that," Melanie rightfully told her ex-boyfriend.

And you can't fault her for saying so. The comedian's behavior is stranger than how another former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, flaunts her giant boobs.

The baby was even born on the Murphy's birthday, prompting Brown to joke: "I think my child has a cosmic sense of humor."

Perhaps. But no way she's funnier than Ruby Sweetheart.
