Nick Zano knew better.

Not that we blame everyone trying to hit that piece.

In any case, before sending his smoking hot girlfriend, Kristin Cavallari, off to Miami for a wild spring break celebration, Nick knew he had to mark his territory.

That's why Zano, who had to stay behind in New Orleans, where he's filming "College," decided to brand his girl prior to her trip to Miami.

We're talking about the always-advisable, never regrettable decision to convince your girlfriend to get your initials tattooed on her wrist.

"He wants all the other guys who flirt with Kristin to know she's all his," said an insider, who got a peek at the Laguna Beach girl's new wrist tattoo during a Victoria's Secret Pink event on the beach.

Our spy said the body art displays his initials, "NZ," in black ink.

When asked about it, Cavallari "got really giggly and started blushing."

Well, it could be worse. Lauren Conrad could have gotten "JW" inked on her wrist while she and Jason Wahler were together. Now that would have sucked.

And besides, it's just two letters. Kristin can always claim that "NZ" stands for New Zealand in two months when they break up.

Or go the Johnny Depp route and altered it a bit - the star had his "Winona Forever" tat changed to "Wino Forever" when his engagement to Winona Ryder ended.
