Mother of Anna Nicole Smith Blames Drugs, Fears for Future of Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern
The mother of the late Anna Nicole Smith predicted that the fight over her granddaughter would get "ugly," while dismissing Anna Nicole's rags-to-riches self-portrayal as mere myth-making.
In an interview on Good Morning America, a disconsolate, almost disgusted Virgie Arthur described Anna Nicole as "wild and crazy," and reiterated that she'd warned her daughter to stop using drugs.
She added that she "really sincerely" worries about five-month-old Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern, and wants her to be with her father.
Of course, it's unclear if that is Howard K. Stern or Larry Birkhead. Hence why Arthur, when asked about the pending paternity battle, said: "Oh yeah, it'll get ugly."
Oddly - and almost unprompted - Arthur also took the opportunity to debunk the myth that Anna Nicole's rise to fame was a classic rags-to-riches tale.
"Why do you tell people stuff like that?" Arthur said she asked Anna Nicole. "I'll do whatever it takes," replied Anna Nicole. "If my name's out there, I make money."
It's sad, but true. In many ways, Anna was just like Kim Kardashian and a handful of other pseudo celebrities. Famous just for being famous.

Virgie Arthur is a heartless woman with no love for her own child. She has bad mouthed Anna before her death and continues after her passing. It is easy to understand why Anna left home very young to get away from this cold unloving mother and stayed away. But here Virgie comes claiming concern for her granddaughter...who stands to inherit millions. She has not said or shown any sorrow over Anna's passing, just more bad mouthing. If one doesn't love their own child how could she truly be concerned about Dannielynn. It's the money she is interested in not the child. Hopefully this child will not be allowed around this uncaring woman. Anna grew up without a father and an unloving mother, no wonder she craved love and affection to such a great extent. Anna's son loved his mother without doubt, which shows Anna was a far better mother than Virgie was.
Virgie has dyed her hair blond, aquired a stlye similar to Anna's, if she thinks this will give her the appearance of beauty that her daughter had, she is badly mistaken, she is still the same fat, homely woman who was always jealous of Anna as a teen and a sucessful adult.

Where do you get off judging Anna's mother bases on her looks and also based on what the media portrayes? WHy dont you gather your facts 1st. Dont depend on Anna for her mind has been in an altered state for a long time and obviously we can blame not you but your parents for raising such a superficial person who judges people on their looks and your so called intentions.

Virgie Arthur is the devil. She deserves to be stoned at dawn for the hell on earth she caused her daughter. She is evil and greed incarnate. She has no conscience and on the stand sounds like the white-trash, ignorant piece of filth that she is. Anna said it best: Virgie has always been jealous of her daughter. When Anna was raped, Virgie blamed Anna. And at the same time Virgie started to hate Anna because Anna was attractive and Virgie is a hollow, hacking humpbacked hag.
If Virgie had offered her daughter an ounce of compassion after Anna's beloved Daniel died--INSTEAD OF VIRGIE DOING EVERYTHING SHE COULD TO CASH IN AND GET ATTENTION BY BLAMING ANNA AND HOWARD FOR THE BOY'S TRAGIC DEATH--then Anna would have probably forgiven the horror show that was her mother. But Virgie is out for whatever attention and money she can glom on to--then and now--because she knows she'll be forgotten ten seconds after this nonsense is over...except as the punchline to bad late-night jokes.

And while I'm on a tear here: If Larry Dickhead smiles his self-satisfied smirk one more time I'm going to break my television. That blond nobody is and always will be nobody. The only hope he has of anyone remembering his name is if he lucks out and it turns out that his limp penis was able to get it up once and he accidentally fathered Howard K. Stern's daughter with Anna. Regardless: That blond punk will never be a true father to that poor baby girl. He's only after a payday and the same sort of attention that Virgie wants. They are both disgusting and vile.
And if that poor baby girl is the birthchild of Larry D., then how ubergross for him to be smirking all over the place while DanniLynn's mama lies cold and alone on a slab waiting for a burial that he has had a hand in delaying for God's sake. Here's my concern. I think Larry Birkhead seems like a nice guy. He must have got caught up in ANS life style to some extent. It's hard to believe he loved ANS because she was in a constant state of narcosis, but whether or not he loved her may still be a question. I don't doubt though that he probably loves his baby daughter. He is a 34 year old man with no other children. He seems to be family oriented but then again there is always that multi-million dollar pay check floating over Dannielynn's head. What cannot be denied though is the fact that Howard K. Stern is nothing more than a maniacal hanger-on. Even as I type this he is in settlement talks with Birkhead to agree to let Birkhead have his daughter if Stern can stay as execuetor of her trust. That's a lifetime paycheck. Howard brought drugs to ANS in the hospital while she was 5 months preggers and the hospital was trying to wean her from her addiciton. Howard never said no to ANS because just like with Elvis she was a drug taking meglomaniac who would fire immediately anyone who refused her anything. If ANS could have got clean and actually led a life with her son, new baby and Birkhead she might have done ok. But Howard may be even more diabolical than anyone is giving him credit. He was threatened by the fact that Larry was trying to get close to ANS and his new baby, and ANS was possibly really pissed at Howard screaming in the hospital "you killed Daniel". which is interesting because Daniel was getting ready to turn 21 and he would have come into his personal trust fund that the oil tycoon had set up for him but if he died before 21 then who ever was execuetor (Stern) would control it.If ANS was ready to finally dump Stern then there was a good reason for him to kill her too. Liquid morphine has to be administered intravenously, and Howard was conviently away from ANS when she died. Why if he cared so much about her did he leave her in her room with a 105 degree fever. That in itself can be fatal for a 39 yr old. And OMG why would they even consider giving dannielynn to that witch Virgie? She sure didn't do a very good job of raising ANS why would anyone think she would do a better job with Dannielynn. There are more people on drugs because they had a bad mother than because they had a bad father. Her affectations on the witness stand were frightening. Her cheerfully flirting with the judge when blabbling on and n about her early days and her job as a cop, but as soon as she was asked how much money she was paid for the shots of her laying on Daniel's grave she quickly became disoriented and abashed at the cross examiner's questions. This whole thing is a bit pile 'o shizz. Here's my "if I were judge" answers: If DNA proves Birkhead the dad he gets the baby. The bodies of Daniel and ANS are left in the bahamas because Daniel is already there, they are both already dead and if you have to visit a grave it might as well be in the bahamas. Virgie Arthur would be allowed to sell every last little crayon picture of ANS's that she has so everyone could see what a stubby fingered money grubbing white trash ghoul she is. And Howard K. Stern would fail two lie detector tests and go to jail in Florida for the murders of Daniel and ANS where he would become someone's bitch. The End. (p.s. I totally disagree with your comment. When Anna Nicole Smith had her tv show on E her family came out of the wood work. Anna tried to befriend her family on her show only to realize the cousin was just using her. Anna's family are users and dont give a damn about Anna and that child. Anna's mother only saw anna as pay check and nothing more. During Anna's life Virgie Aruther went to the tabloids exposing how horrible she thought her daughter was. Only in death does she comming running to her daughter's side to be the "supportive mother". Where was she for ten years when Anna needed her, "talking to the tabloids" thats where. Even in death she disrespects her daughter by allowing her daughter to decay further by delaying the burial. Anna baught a plot next to her son in the Bahamas. I don't see that as a sighn she wanted be buried in some hick plot in Texas. Virgie even plans to disrespect her grandson's plot by un-earthing him and bring him to "Texas" I really hope no sane person gives her any right to do anything then to get on plane and go back to Hick life in Texas.
Virgie go home and keep collecting the money from your appreance's. I hope you lose your case and your hick lawyer charges you for every sent that he has spent on you. Virgie you do not deserve anything other than a reality check.

Picture this scenario:
Fast-forward 19 years: Anna Nicole didn't die and is approaching 50-- and Dannielynn is 20--
The headline: "Daughter of Playboy Bunny/Heiress Anna Nicole Smith Dies of Overdose at Age 20".
The tabloids are having a field day-- Anna's past is regurgitated, along with the already-well-known history of Dannilynn's various escapades-- and along with other facts not well-known: drug arrests (taken from mom's stash), abortion, drunk-driving, etc.
We learn more: as mom aged, she became more and more jealous of Danni's beauty, and the different guys mom brings home have been eyeing Danni for years-- we find out that a couple of them had even molested her. It has been publicized around the time of her son Daniel's death that as a young boy he had wandered into his mom's bedroom several times only to find her in bed with one man or another (some during her marriage to Howard) and she didn't even stop engaging in sex when this happened; we found out this had happened to Danni as well, with one drunken guy trying to get her to join them.
Here is my point: what would most of us be saying about Anna Nicole at this time? Would our sympathies be with her or would we be lambasting her for her terrible job of bringing up Dannielynn?
How many would be of the opinion that even though Anna Nicole might have had it rough growing up, and even throughout her life, that she should have gotten it together to rear her daughter properly?
Now, if you are of the opinion that perhaps Anna Nicole never had much of a chance to do just that because she was so messed up, then I ask you this:
what about Anna's mother, Virgie?
The point I am attempting to make is that we don't seem to know much about Anna's mother's life at this time (except for the fact she was married several times and to at least one abuser, and was a deputy sheriff). Since patterns in families tend to repeat, with daughters marrying their fathers (meaning men very much like them), how do we know what Virgie went through? She was jealous of her daughter we are told-- well if she were molested also as a child, then she must have blamed herself as virtually all children do who have been through this; she must have seen her mother's jealousy and now she was experiencing the same thing. Since she blamed herself as a child (and never stopped subconsciously) she would tend to blame Vickie Lynn. Of course children are never to blame, but sadly, the mothers often are not only wracked with jealousy, they are taken back in time to their own experiences, together with the guilt.
Certainly those of us who have not been in this position (or have and have been through successful therapy) know that any adult engaging in this behavior should be thrown into prison (IMO for life). But people in this situation all-too-often are children in adult bodies which, of course, results in the "generational curse" since the patterns tend not to be broken.
People don't like complexity- they like things to be simple; good people are good and bad people are
bad-- with nothing in-between- at least when it comes to situations where outrageous behavior is concerned. We are angry and hurt for the victim and lash out at whom we perceive to be the villain- Virgie Arthur seems to be an excellent target as she doesn't tend to come across as a very sympathetic character-- it is easy to dislike her.
Again, I gave the scenario of the death of Dannielynn to suggest that the "poor victim" we see today-- Anna Nicole-- might be thought of quite differently had it become reality-- sympathy would be replaced with blame. Gone would be remembrances of her own troubled life since a young person would be dead who really never had a chance at a healthy life.
Dysfunctional adults tend to produce dysfunctional children who grow up to be dysfunctional adults-- ad infinitum if the pattern isn't broken. If you look at Anna Nicole's parenting of Daniel, you have to find much of it appalling; if you can forgive her of this because of her own past, why condemn Virgie and decide she doesn't love her daughter when so little is known about her? And again, I am not excusing her-- just bringing up issues that should be thought about, in fairness.
No, Virgie isn't beautiful, but Anna was; Virgie has been called ugly and worse; if we we're going to pillory her, let's not do it because of her looks. Did she have a "wild" daughter that she tried to beat into behaving right, while not facing what had made the child act the way she did? Was she wilfully ignorant out of her own fear and pain? How much did she know? What would she have been like if shows like "Dr Phil" and so many of books regarding co-dependency had been out there when Anna was a child and teen?
Just some things to think about...

The above commentary's having been said, I would have shuddered to think of the shattered Anna Nicole rearing Dannielynn. The thought of her mother's being the baby's guardian is pretty chilling as well-- the issue isn't the "Blame Game", but the reality of dysfunctionality-bigtime.
I would also be quite worried to think of Howard Stern's bringing up the child as well, since he has shown that he is too weak to stand up to destructive behavior in someone he cares for; he
"buckles" out of fear of being rejected.
From what I've seen of Larry Birkhead it seems that he is willing to take the steps necessary to be a good parent ( I didn't see him on the witness stand his second day of testimony). He has taken parenting classes, and we know that his standing up to Anna Nicole re her drug use probably was the reason she fled to the Bahamas-- quite possibly out of fear of eventually possibly losing custody of the child if she didn't turn her life around.
If she did, indeed, have Lupus, it is yet another tragedy, but she was indeed, a broken individual who could only pass that tragedy along to child she might have. We can only hope there was no HIV-- as Dannielynn has not been tested yet for anything- from residual drugs to disease.
It is so sad that Anna's death might have been the only thing that could save her child's future-- she might well have had sufficient money to successfully fight any attempt to have her child taken from her, especially were she to have remained in the Bahamas.
I doubt if Vickie Lynn Hogan Smith Marshall had a total of 6 hours of genuine joy in her entire life; how I wish it could have been otherwise.

It is so sad Anna had to die so young. I feel bad for her mother no matter what people are saying about her. No mother should go through what she has gone through. I do not belive any of the things are said about her. The love of a mother is unquestionable for a child, no matter what. So please leave the woman alone. She has been hit hard by loosing her daughter and grandson,no one should go through this pain. No one knows the truth exept Anna and her Mom herself. In the end everyone got the karma they had to get in life for whatever they have done. No mistake about that, everyone will get his/her karma for whatever we do. Hate doesn't resolve things in life,it makes matters worse. Let's respect what Anna wanted. She wanted love and peace. Let this people resolve their matters in their private ways and enough jugdging one or the other. It is a terrible loss for two young lifes and i wish they are both together and loved and in peace! It is sadd and tragic!

I think its awful the way people have talked about Anna's mother. I can assure you (even though I loved Anna's antics) that she put her mother through hell while she grew up.Then old "Gold Digging" Howard K. Stern comes into the picture & is a Gigolo for Anna's money. Just how many attorney's do you know that have 1 client? He was OBSESSED with her and the thoughts of getting the Marshall Estate.He got her addicted to drugs,fed them to her,kept her family & friends away and then he gets her to do that drugged up version of an interview that said her mom was no good. She was just angry cause her mom said Anna & Howard got Daniel addicted to drugs(some truth there,admit it!) and I can see why she wants Danny exumed & brought back & buried w/Anna in Texas. Howard is gonna lose his FREE home where hes hanging out and hes gonna have to work,therefore I see him leaving the Bahammas. So why should she be there? She only bought those plots so larry couldn't get to his real baby. Howard & his sister MAKE ME SICK. They better both hope hes not charged. No,her mom was not around (because of Howard) he did that to not only Virgie,but any family or friends Anna had. I agree that Anna needed to be buried by Daniel but not in a foreign country that is also making money off a dead Anna & Daniel.Stern will not be able to work there,they were only there to "lose" the real father (prayerfully Larry). I can't believe there are so many dumb posters. I am not saying Virgie is PERFECT,in my mind there are NO perfect parents (including YOU)But she wasn't living off Anna OR feeding her drugs. You know I have no sympathy for Virgie Arthur there has been so many times where she has been on tv and in the media talking so badly about anna. The only reason she wants Dannielynn is because who gets her gets the money. The only thing she is worried about is getting her hands on that money. I understand motherly love and all that but if anna was my child I would have tried to have contact with her wheather or not I liked howard or not. She is a selfish greedy old hag who needs to crawl back under the rock she came out of. I am not saying I am for howard or Larry I am just saying Virgie has money signs in her eyes and if any one feels sorry for her then I feel sorry for them because anna hated her mother with a passion and I am deciding with anna on this one about her mother.

Anna`s mother was and still is a mean spirted untune to even her daughter Anna`s cry for her. You do not turn your back on your children no matter what. Something bad was wrong between them. And I do believe Anna was not on drugs on the tv interview expressing how she felt about Vergie. Vergie hated Anna, so I do think the baby would be in danger around her and would be like uh um Anna "I got your baby". The woman never had a relationship with Daniel in his teens. She did not know her teen grandson. The half-sister was already a bad to say Anna book and came on tv along with Vergie on Larry King to discuss Anna. This was only to get at Anna. I do not want to ever push my daughter away because of any reason. I will be there for her and pray when she is down that I can help with open arms and never give up. Anna also stated the beatings not only from her mother but the brother and sister and rape by a family member. Did Vergie as in with the Texas Police and fbi get this hid? Larry seems like he sure called Anna bad names when she left his leachy behind, but he is no angel dearies as he stated he wanted and tried to get Anna pregnant. Well if he now wants to scream drugs, he was there making a baby as he claims knowing everything that was going on. And so does his ugly loud mouthed attorney Deberah which seemed to have a thing for Larry. She pointed him and diricted him to the cameras. Anna could not just stop what she was taking but in the end she might of wanted even more after Daniel died to go out. Any one who has been around the block knows you cannot force someone to take drugs nor force them to stop. You are either their friend or lover anyway and try as hard as you can but you have to be careful as not push them away. We are forgetting also of the 105% temperature Anna had. She had doctors whom gave her her meds. But now there is the Marshall estate that might win and might not but vergie`s Texan attorney is after it as he is not charging Vergie any fees as of yet.

i guess you all know now that howard k stern didnt kill anna nicole smith so why do people judge people when they dont know the facts.as for the baby we will all have to wait to see who her father is.the grandmother and larry are using the media to make them out nice guys,and i think howard should stay out of the media because larry and her mother are using the media to their vantage.i hope that the baby stays where shes at and not with larry and her so call grandmother whos greedy and wants the baby for their own purpose and thats money which i hope the baby dont get it until shes 21 and old enough to look after it herself.

I have tried to keep up to date on all of this. It is captivating for all. Everyone keeps talking about the money $$$. Nobody has said anything about the dannielynn. Anna would turn over in her grave if she knew that her daughter was being used as a bargining chip. I hope and pray that Howard K Stern is the father. He has been there from day one. I do not believe he is out for the money. But Howard stayed with Anna through everything. People are saying companion- but she has said many, many times he was her best friend. He loved her and there is NO doubt in my mind. They may not have had the traditional man & woman; husband & wife, but who are we to judge. She (Anna) done what she thought was best for her daughter. As far as her mother (Virgie) Go to hell. I have raised 2 daughters and we allhave a very loving relationship. As a parent you should always love your child or children unconditionally. With or without money. Virgie has not said nor has Larry made any reference to I DO NOT WANT THE MONEY!!! I think Howard is the only one that has said anything about the money. He does not want it and has said that he would step down from being exectutor of the will. Howard is the only father that child has known. What trama would that do to that child now, since her mother is gone and she will never again feel that mother daughter bond, Howard (daddy) is the only other parent to bring the father daughter bond. She has already bonded with him. Larry did not file any paternity papers until Daniel died. So in my eyes all he seen and still sees is $$$$$$$.
He has had his 15 minutes of fame, now Larry "Go Away". Leave well enough alone.
Virgie there is not much else I can say except ditto. You wanted nothing to do with your own daughter until Daniel died and you seen $$$$$$$$ on his death. NOW you see even more $$$$$$$$$$ on Dannielynn. Shame on you and Larry. You do not use a child. You both will learn a hard, hard lesson as time goes on. Anna worked for her money, it does not belong to either of you. Once again I hope Howard K Stern is the father. As the old saying goes "Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad". That dad being Howard K. Stern.

I think yall are all confused, because no one really knows the true life of anna nicole or howard k stern but howard. Howard loved anna no matter what she was drug head gold digger...ect. He stood by her side through everything and even took respnisibility for dannielynn. On the reality show he was always there as a matter of fact he is in all most every photo of anna. If anna didnt have love for this man she had all the power to make him leave her alone, but obviously she wanted howard there. He may have given her drugs, but have you ever met a drug user? If they dont get it from this person there going to go to the next. I sincerely think howrd really truely loved anna and was probably the only one who did. As for her mother that just a case of cashing in on her daughter. Anna had alot of hate for that woman it seems to me....you may say some things out of anger but its not like thats the first time anna ever said she didnt associate with her mother.....The bottom line is.......leave howard alone with HIS baby and let anna and daniel rest in peace.

Everyone knows that Anna and her mom were getting along just fine until Howard the (drug dealer) Stern came into the picture. Come on folks.....medication in Stern's name and the clown video while she was pregnant....(this video is worth millions) sterns says. Howard was Anna's friend and not her lover and daniel hated Howard because of the drugs. I hope Virgie Arthur files for a wrongful death suit against Howard Stern in the near future so he can't profit off of Anna Nicole just like the Goldman's did against O J Simpson. If Stern really loved her that much don't you think he would of helped her, no he did not but supplied her with the drugs to a slow death so he can make millions off her. I hope larry gets the baby and the Bahamian court grants custody of the baby as soon as possible to Larry. What makes you say that Howard would take good care of the baby when he could'nt even take care of Anna and Daniel. I hope Howard gets kicked out of the house as soon as possible, who in the right mind would give Anna a million dollar house for nothing, let's see the papers to prove that Howard. If this doctor that prescribed all these medications to Anna is found liable then I do believe Howard should be too because his name was on 8 of the prescriptions. Come on Jamie, Howard was nothing but a stalker. Sneaking into her bed while drugged up. There was even a exerpt from her diary that Anna said she was getting sick of all the phone calls from Howard. Howard was interferring in every relationship that Anna was in, knocking on the bedroom door while she was trying to have sex. Come on, the baby is what seven months old now and who was having a sexual relationship with Anna at the time......not Howard but Larry. Howard knows that he is not the father and just delaying everything. I hope when we find out that larry is found to be the real father that the Bahamian court rips up that Birth Certificate pronto.

Come on Becca, everyone is in it for the money.....so don't just blame Larry and Virgie. The truth is Stern could not take good care of Anna and Daniel that he truly loved. Feeding Anna drugs and video taping them dressed up in clown makeup makes me believe he is a sick man. Larry tried to help Anna but Howard the (drug dealer) Stern interferred. Can't forget about the duffel bag full of drugs that Howard brought into the hospital because Anna needed more medication, Larry tried but was kicked out of the room. Larry did not file for paternity late like you said.......Howard is just delaying everything because he knows he is not the real father and know wonder why they are bonding because of the delays. Come on folks, if Howard says he is the father of the baby then why is he delaying and scared to have this paternity test done, because he knows he is not the real father and he loses millions of dollars. Godspeed Larry and Virgie who will oneday get to bury her daughter and daniel in Texas.

The timeline on who's the father is on Larry's side is my opinion. Stern saying he and Anna were in love is a bunch of bullshit. Did anyone see the pictures of Anna and her mom when she was in her early and mid twenties, seems to me that daughter and mother were getting along just fine until Howard Stern showed up. I agree with you 100% Mike that this Stern guy is nothing but scum and did have some roll into the deaths of Anna and daniel even if they say it was a drug overdose.
