Simple, marissa was the oc, was it not true that from the very first episode the oc has revolved around marissa, also heaps of stuff with ryan summer seth and the rest but lets face it people still everything that happens in the oc leads back to marissa cooper in one way or another really. and remind me when exactly did the oc turn to shit i believe it was after season 3 and before season 4, suprise as soon as she was dead, casue you cant have the oc without marissa cooper. !!! I still eblieve someone else big should have been killed off like perhaps seth or ryan.. Not marissa cooper. Bye bye quality oc!

I honesley think that the show was cancelled for many reasons. I liked Misha's character and when she was killed off I belive that there were many people that stopped watching The OC because of this. But I also think others stopped watching for other reasons such as just poor episodes. And some people lost interest. So with all of these reasons together the show's ratings dropped and had to be canceled. But I do think Marissa's death has 'something' to do with the cancellation but i honestly do not think that it was the entire reason, but that is just my opinion.

i just finished watching the last show. i enjoyed the series even though none of my friends in japan watch it. i can relate to the stories and the characters from my junior high school days in canada. Marissa was what got me interested; but her lack of real passion for Ryan in the kissing scenes and Ryan's over passion for kissing other girls was what confused me. I don't know what kind of contract they have; but im sure Misha's rise in world popularity was a factor in why she was axed. I would love to be able to see how they all interact off scenes.

okay, this is ridiculous.
The OC was amazing, until they killed off Marissa! Killing her off DID kill the OC. It went downhill for a reason...people love an awesome, meant to be couple like Ryan and Marissa. It was obvious they were meant to be together in the end and the fact that they killed her off ticked people off. I mean, if your favorite thing about the OC (the suspense of wondering if the two would ever end up together) is taken away, why watch it anymore? I know I certainly wouldnt.

Dude your crazy if u think the oc is anything without marissa. She was the show. Her and ryan seth and summer. How can u kill off a main character? I've watched it every season and never missed an episode. I stoped watching it after she died the completley ruined it!!!

the o.c. is amazing. Marissa truly did cause the downfall of the show. everybody changed, there was less witty seth, and it just wasnt the o.c. that we grew to love. i wish it was back

when Mischa got kicked off the O.C i bet that's what killed the O.C. the only reason i liked that show was to see what happened to Ryan and Marissa.

Mann i love the o.c., i hated it that they killed of Marissa, but i stilled loved the 4th season wut they did w/ it.....the writers started suckin writtin the same stuff with ryan and marissa!!! marissa gets in trouble and ryan saves her....but damm taylor was so hoottt...i liked how they had ryan and her together...but i hate how season 4 ended with both of them broken up and still in love w/each other and not knowin wut happened...this show could have gone much on longer in college and more on...............
but i love how it ended w/ ryan askin the kid if he needs help.........so ironic

The writers should have done a better job with this all. Like maybe making it so none of the kids went to college at all, or it was all close to home so you could still include them in their parents lives. Loved this, great great writing, should never had killed off Mischa Barton, I however was never a big fan of her, but I loved it all anyways. Reeser was good in 4th, seth always good, just a great cast, julie so hottttttttttt loved it all its a shame.

ok, the writers are idiots! i mean seriously, who would kill of the most loved and favorite character in the series? she was the first love we saw on the show. she drew our hearts in. she made us all fall in love. when she died, the OC died. thats it. i almost didn't watch season four at all because of her death, and i LOVE this show. i watched season one through four in only 6 days. no sleep, and lots of tears. i know crazy huh. but i wanted to KILL the writers when they killed off marissa!! that was the dumbest thing you could have possibly done. it really would have been like killing off Rachel in Friends (no wonder friends lasted 10 seasons, they kept the "main love story" going on their show)... Mischa Barton was RIGHT ON. SHE was the reason the show ended. oh, and also because the writers turned it into a full on SOAP OPERA. i mean come on, were not 40 year old women, we are teens, we dont want a soap, we want a drama.

ok, so i just got done watching the 4th and final season of the oc. i actually dont think i watched any of the 3rd season, but from what i saw in the 1st and 2nd seasons i just dont get how this could happen. So anyways, had the show continued to go on what could have been done with the show when they are all in college? What else was possible from this show? This show certainly wasnt a comedy although it did have some moments with seth, but how does a show like this continue on with mischa barton still being on it? How much more creative could the writers possibly get? They did a terrific job and if you ask me there just wasnt anything at all to work with and yes that could be their fault, and its very sad to see the show end because we do feel like we are a part of going on since so many of us can relate to this material in our own lives but what more is possible!? Great show, it all happened so fast, and it probably should have ended the way it did. With or without marissa, a

Being older, I do not think that Marissa was the person holding the show together. Ryan and his history were the main interest, and seeing how he grew was more interesting to me. Marissa reminded me of the typical spoiled little rich girl who cared about noone but herself. She quickly went from one boy to the other, then girl, and not really being straightforward. I think she was in love with "love", and never serious with anyone. I love Ryan, and felt so bad for him when people did not take him seriously, and couldn't see his good qualities. I also miss Tate Donovan- great actor! The most amusing and believable character is Seth. What a good portrayal! He gets an A+ in my book. Rachel is also very good, and I think a better actress than Mischa.

I think the show did suffer alot because they took Marissa off, the show was not based on her however, It was based of the four of them Seth Summer Marissa and Ryan and you can't spend all three season calling them the fantastic four and the kill one off, then have the nerve to replace her with some one you spent the whole third season making us hate!!!! It makes no sense and it cost them the show.

i believe that mischa is right and killing of marrisa was completely the wrong way to end that series. the whole marrisa ryan love saga was at the centre of the show and now i do believe that it has been ruined

I think that even if she hadn't cut Mischa, the show was doomed anyways. It started off so fantastic (seasons 1&2) and then began to run out of ideas...it just became boring. People began to lose interest. I think they needed to make some major changes in the plot line if they had wanted it to last...it was getting way too repetitive.

I totaly agree! ( Big fan of Mischa btw =P )
It was very stupid to kill her. She was the life of the show, i mean, come on! But I like Willa Holland too. She's such a mini Julie it cracks me up.
