The amazing Nicole Richie, star of the Simple Life, AA meetings and many a Samuel Plouchart fantasy, broke things off with her previous boyfriend because the pair got too serious too fast.

Nicole and Brody Jenner were really into each other, but didn't take it slow, which resulted in too many lame dates in a short time frame, not enough nutrients for Nicole (are there ever?) and a heck of a lot of bickering!

The couple, who have been friends since childhood, dated for two months before calling it quits earlier in October.

Jenner tells Star: "It was getting too serious. Too fast. We started fighting. There was too much bickering."

The ex-boyfriend of Kristin Cavallari also says geography was a big reason he began dating Richie in the first place.

"She lived above me, you know, in the apartment building. So it was too convenient... I've known her since we were kids and I really just wanted to be friends. She's a great girl and now we are good friends."

That's good. Meanwhile, Brody has reportedly been chilling with Lauren Conrad, nemesis of Cavallari.
