Ellen DeGeneres is more than just a gay comedian with a talk show now. She's the next host of the Academy Awards.

DeGeneres has previously hosted the Grammys twice and the Emmys twice, but the Oscars are typically a showcase for the best in their field.

The two-time Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Talk Show Host will follow in the footsteps of Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin and Whoopi Goldberg - the last five Oscar hosts, all of whom completed the gig to mixed reviews.

The 2007 Academy Awards will be presented on February 25, 2007 from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood and broadcast on ABC.

The Gossip would've tapped recent Ellen guest, Kevin Federline, for hosting duties. Come on, how funny would he be?!?
