They haven't exactly been sitting in a tree, but this hasn't stopped Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo from doing a lot of public k-i-s-s-i-n-g recently.
But why her, Nick? What is it about this host of MTV's Total Request Live?
"She's a guys' girl," a friend of the couple's told Us magazine for a cover story. "Jessica was always about going somewhere that was a scene with a big entourage. Vanessa can play darts and chill."
Evidently, balls also played a role. Not Nick's. Vanessa's love for them ... on the field.
After all, Minnillo also scored points for being a fellow sports nut. While Simpson rolled her eyes at Lachey's passion, Minnillo revels in it.
One story said that when she and Lachey were still in the platonic friendship stage, "Nick commented on his love for the [hometown NFL team], Cincinnati Bengals and Vanessa blew him away by running off the team's poor stats," says a Lachey source. "He tells friends, âIt's like talking to your best guy friend, but she's a smoking-hot chick.'"

Sorry to say it, because I used to like her but after listening to Jessica's new single I am pretty confident that my most members of my daughter's elementary school choir can sing better than that. Jessica is clearly only popular because of her looks. Vanessa, on the other hand, seems like a good fit for Nick.

Nick is on the rebound and is trying to hide his feelings by gushing about a new "love" and unfortunately it had to be Vanessa. Hopefully it doesn't last.

The fact that she is the complete polar opposite of Jessica Simpson is a MASSIVE RED FLAG. Nick was with Jessica for 7 years including there 3 year marriage. The ink on his divorce was just died in June 2006 and now he is in love with Vanessa? C'mon .... Vanessa's dad should intervene and forbid Nick from being in any contact from his daughter. HE IS USING HER!

she is totally wrong for nick because "sports" seems to be the only thing keeping them together.
